Apparently they are just working through the design. They are obviously high on Winnipeg because they are also designing a new 200 room Sandman Signature Hotel for the lot to the west of their existing Sandman property on Sargent.
Who's the architect for the hotel?

Being high on suburban hotels is different than being high on a downtown hotel. Economics are different. The missing skywalk in the rendering has me wondering.

I'm skeptical about this church thing. Without a TIF I can't see something like that happening. Who's money is it?

Northland Properties has their own architects and design their own hotels. Make what you will of that.

re the church thing - I don't know.

It better not not resemble the suburban hotels the company builds.

The initial concept looked pretty "urban"... I can't imagine that they would go from this to five storey Holiday Inn with giant parking lot.

I am hoping that you are correct, and they do not try to sneak in something like this:

I hope complaining in here is read by someone who cares, but the other day driving down main street by thunderbird house I was amazed. the place is literally falling apart. copper roof peeled back in several places. what a shame and an embarrassment. such a landmark just falling into complete shambles.

I know that there was a fundraising art sale event on Jan 3 to try to raise money for the roof repairs if I recall the TV news report correctly.

I can't remember how much they need to raise for repairs or how much was raised.

With Thunderbird house, and the "Disco" Safeway behind it, yeah it most definitely is.

Actually, jabroni is the one who mixed up Thunderbird Drive-Inn on McPhillips and Thunderbird House on Main. But you were the first one to figure it out so kudos

Ah, crap. We're both confused. Yes, Thunderbird Restaurant on McPhillips, of course.

Thunderbird House at Main and Higgins was the original discussion piece. How it's falling apart.
