So after the previous officials we had in the house with Nutter, making the city better.

How did the people elect Kenney?

That has to do with the possibility of the adjacent building getting replaced with something taller, doesn't it? I figured most buildings have blank walls on faces that can be covered by future development

When a building is built on a property line or within a certain dimension, which I am forgetting off the top of my head it needs to be fire rated. This helps with the spread of fires from one property to the next. If the building is on a property line such as a sidewalk, alley, etc. there does not need to be a fire rating.

Brewerytown

I took a walk around Brewerytown, and along with Francisville the pace of construction is crazy. This one is a 32 unit building called Brubox that looks really cool.

Wow. What a great design. Although I have to say I don't know if I would want to live across the street from Cheesesteak Vegas.

So, pretty much every new apartment complex being built these days is taking advantage of the fresh food store business. Do we honestly believe that these retail spaces are going to remain food stores? Pretty much every apartment building is going to have this kind of retail at some point, especially Fishtown/Kensington lol. Is there any enforcement of this, or can developers just bait and switch?

Does anyone know if there is a correlation between "Storage Places" being built & a rise in people moving into an area with higher paying jobs/ Businesses being built? I noticed a lot of Storage units are being built in Delaware/Philly and the economy is also booming.

we did not have as many before but now more are being built.

notice how they are stuccoing right over a window. Another in the long list of reasons why doing any stucco should require special permission from god (or me!)

The picture is deceiving. What you are seeing is a standalone structure, presumably the mechanical tower for the new building. It's standing in front of the original building in the background but there is a gap between them.

I think people having too much stuff covers the income spectrum.

I can't be the only one that's disappointed they couldn't do something with that old warehouse.

Thanks, I still hate 90% of the way stucco is used here in Philly

i am disappointed to the extent I prefer the project currently not advance. Perhaps some future iteration will employ the beauty of existing structures.

There are ample empty lots that can accommodate the less than elegant current proposal.

A rhetorical question, perhaps; but why do these designers include what appears to be an exoskeletal structure with no purpose other than to distract attention from appalling design beneath it? Please visualize the image without the exoskeletal structure and realize design integrity of cardboard box the recycling crew refused to collect for some reason (perhaps someone or their pet urinated upon it) becoming displaced by high wind loads typical of neighborhood recycling day, trampled by so many vehicles and rendered in such sordid condition that nobody wants to dispose of it without applying multiple layers of gloves to their hands but really preferring someone else retrieve it.

But then again, perhaps they are creatively inspired by the "found art" component of such an object.

Last edited by Hrytsyu; Jun 16, 2020 at 5:59 AM. Reason: added thoughtful reflection of likely "found art" inspiration
