^ 3300 N Clark was issued new construction building permits nearly a month ago, so probably will be built if there's equipment on site too.

The huge "Ogden Commons" project in Douglas Park right by Cinespace/Lagunitas/Sinai is about to start. Construction fencing and barricades are going up. I heard from someone involved on the equity side of this project that it was moving forward.

Exciting times for the Lower West side... Finally chipping away at the blight wholesale.

As a reminder of what this entails:

When did they deface the 5 story warehouse building just to the South of this? Wasn't that a nice terracotta "fireproof storage" building?

I was walking past 3901 Lincoln the other day and there’s scaffolds around an old 3-story brick corner building. I looked up their permit online and it says to add a 4th floor and rear addition and expand the building from 4DU to 12DU and office space. Very happy to see this. I hope 2020 brings more renovation and expansion projects like this

It's the developer/investors fault, if you can't afford/don't want to pay the property taxes you shouldn't take out such a large loan. Also, how much money do they need, i'm sick of all the greed. The city needs the money so that it can piss away on pensions, do these developers not get that?

Yeah Kaegi really managed to royally f*ck things up while paving his road with good intentions. He's repeatedly talked about creating a transparent system but he hasn't been very transparent about his plans or the general trajectory they are taking.

drove up western ave today. the amount of construction between Division and Armitage is pretty impressive. I'd guess 10 developments with maybe 1,000 total units being built all at once. all condos/apartments with retail on first floor.

A fast food restaurant with a drive thru. Based on my research, either a Dunkin, Taco Bell, Burger King, or Subway. The owner on the permit owns and runs something like 20 Dunkin in the area among those other chains too.

According to the permit data portal, there is a permit at 255 W Garfield Blvd issued 10/7/19 for "new construction: erect 1 story masonry fast food restaurant with drive thru and masonry trash enclosure." If you Google the name of the owner on the permit, he franchises Burger Kings, Dunkin Donuts, and Taco Bells in the area so it's more than likely something along those lines.

I've been to several speaking engagements he's been at and he's been quite forthcoming with his intentions. Guessing property owners won't be thrilled but it's certainly in the right direction. Little tough to fix something that's been f*k'd up over the course of decades in a matter of a couple years. Particularly at the speed that government works.
