thanks, taiwan ren. this is a great compilation you're always able to find these great pics

i have 3 questions:

1. where did you find info that says that four seasons is 44f? i thought it was only 37? is it a new development?

2. i heard shin kong has been added to 21f. not sure if it's an older or newer info.

3. what is the yulon tower? is it a headquarter for 裕隆?

The Four Seasons is the Cathay project on A3. The info comes from Dialogue's issue on Taipei urbanism.

Right you are! I see they are now in partnership with the group that owns the Taipei Sheraton.

Yes, it's the car manufacturer.

Do you know what is being built in the Shin Yi Area? When you come out of the 市政府 MRT station, it's right next to you. I visited Taipei over the summer and it was walled with nothing built. I just went back 2 weeks ago and it's still like that.

i wish it would be another 50+ floor skyscraper, but it will probably be another low-rise mall or hotel.

Xinyi projects:

Cathay Landmark Building: 44F
Lihwa Citibank Building: 37F
Uni-President Hotel: 27F
Shinkong Xinyi Hotel: 21F
Kelti HQ: 20F

Sounds like a rebranding of the Mandarina Crown Hotel.

In any case, there are lots of upscale hotel proposals that have yet to see the light of day. It should be interesting to see if any of these get built.

Shinkong Xinyi Hotel (Starwood?)
Unipresident Xinyi Hotel (Pan Pacific)
Cathay Landmark Xinyi Hotel (Four Seasons)
Nangang Station Hotel
Songshan Station Hotel
Taipei Gate Hotel
iTaipei Hotel (China Trust)
Yihwa Hotel (Marriot)
Mandarina Crown Hotel (Mandarin Oriental)

Mandarin Oriental Announces New Luxury Hotel In Taipei
Hong Kong, 8th February 2007 - Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has today announced that it will manage a new 300-room luxury hotel in the heart of the Taipei’s central financial and business district.

Mandarin Oriental, Taipei will be a key component of a five-acre mixed-use luxury lifestyle and entertainment complex which is being developed in the city. The 1.25 million sq ft complex, which is planned to open in the first half of 2010, will also house over 200,000 sq ft of internationally-recognised luxury retail. The development is located on Dun Hua North Road, one of the city’s most cosmopolitan areas, home to many company headquarters and with easy access to transport links.

All guestrooms will feature state-of-the-art entertainment and customer-centric technology systems, a hallmark of Mandarin Oriental hotels worldwide.

An expansive 20,000 sq. ft spa will offer holistic rejuvenation and relaxation in a tranquil, meditative setting. Incorporating the most comprehensive range of wellness, beauty and massage treatments in Taipei, The Spa at Mandarin Oriental will feature life-enhancing signature programmes that are exclusive to the Group as well as significant water and heat therapies. A sophisticated fitness centre and outdoor swimming pool will also be available.

The hotel will feature four exceptional restaurants and two bars including authentic Cantonese and Italian cuisine served in stylish surroundings. A Mandarin Oriental signature gourmet Cake Shop will also be a prominent feature of the property. Extensive banquet and conference facilities will be ideally suited for meetings and private functions.

The overall project is owned by Mandarina Crown Hotel Co. Ltd. The renowned hospitality design consultants, Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo, have been appointed as the design architect.

“We are delighted to be bringing Mandarin Oriental’s legendary hospitality to this exciting development and look forward to creating the city’s most luxurious hotel in the heart of Taipei’s dynamic and sophisticated centre,” said Edouard Ettedgui, Group Chief Executive of Mandarin Oriental.

Citibank Taiwan to Move Into Xinyi District
2007/03/20

Taipei, March 20, 2007 (CENS)--Citibank Taiwan has decided to move its headquarters into the Walsin Lihwa building being under construction in Xinyi district of Taipei city following its completion in two years, giving a strong boost to Xinyi district in emerging as the new financial center of the city.

The building being built by Walsin Lihwa Corp., an electric wire and cable maker, is a 37-story building, located at the intersection of Songgao and Songzhi road, near the City Hall station of the mass rapid transit (MRT) system. The project is undergoing construction of its framework and is scheduled for completion at the end of 2008 or early 2009, when it will become the second highest building in Xinyi district, trailing Taipei 101.

Citibank Taiwan will occupy 6,000 to 7,000 pings (one ping equals 36 square feet) of space, over half of the building`s available space, while the building will be dubbed "Walsin Lihwa Citibank," in line with the practice of other Citibank branches in Asia, all of which have their logos put on their headquarters building. Citibank Taiwan will move from its existing site in Fubon building at fourth section of Renai road.

A Walsin Lihwa executive confirmed the deal yesterday (March 19), adding the company is considering to allow Citibank to put its logo in the name of the building.

Having secured the ultra-big client, Walsin Lihwa has raised the rental for the remaining floor space to NT$3,500 per ping, the highest in the region, even higher than NT$3,200 of Taipei 101.

Yang Wen-chi, assistant general manager of Taipei 101, admitted failing to secure the big client due to the inability to allow Citibank putting its logo in the building`s name. He, though, noted that comparison of Walsin Lihwa building`s rental with that of Taipei 101 is improper, since one refers to future price and the other to current price.

Citibank Taiwan will join the clustering of financial firms being formed in Xinyi district, which now accommodates headquarters of several leading domestic financial firms and 20-odd foreign financial firms, including Cathay Financial Holding, Chinatrust Financial Holding ING Antai Life Insurance, and Capital Group, in addition to the Taiwan Stock Exchange.

hey taiwan ren
can u confirm the height of the Lihwa tower is either 37F or 27F?
cuz it is being said that the tw journalist HAS MADE the mistake again and the actual height of the tower is 27F according to the old version, instead of 37F
so i am just wondering if there is any way u can find out the real info about the tower
personally, i hope it can be the 2nd tallest building in Xinyi district, if that is possible...

The initial design by LCRA was for a 30F office tower.

The info on the height increase to 37F comes from local media (English & Chinese) and Repro.

The project may turn out to be only 27F, though I've never come across any evidence to support that claim.

So what's the height on this project - 27, 30, or 37 floors?

If that is the case, then I am disappointed. The hotel is too old, they should demolish it and build a new one, not just remodel it.
