You mean this plan?
I thought it was supposed to be this. The theory was that a large building would block out freeway noise.:

When are they shutting down Steers and Beers and the other Commerce-side stores at Rivercenter?

My brother insists he's going to be made a manager at Steers and Beers soon and I am trying to tell him not to invest so much time in it. I think he dropped out of airline mechanics school because of that.

That was taken during the beautification construction of East Commerce. As evident by the construction barricades. That recently finished and the view today looks so much better.

I also love the streets and how they did the bricks at all the intersections.

Why wouldn't he invest? I doubt they just close shop for good because they can't be in RC Mall anymore. Wouldn't you assume they'd just open up somewhere else?

Maybe further down Commerce in the area of Coyote Ugly.

I got schooled by my grandma on the topic, haha. She owned two stores downtown for over a decade, so I guess I will take her word for it, lol.

They have new management and my brother will still be an assistant eventually. They are more than likely moving when things shift at Rivercenter and not before.

The project on this link: http://www.douglasarchitects.net/ind...ad_Power_Plant

is across from the lone star brewery project.

It looks like south of downtown is really shaping up nicely!
I wish I was involved in projects like these......sounds fun and exciting!

Is there any news on the Houston St Aloft hotel? Can anyone tell us if there is any activity in the biuldings just east of the new Walgreens space?

That stuff was announced awhile back and has been quiet for a long time...

I'm guessing that the start of demolition on those is not yet imminent. One of them is now serving as the construction office for the Neisner building project across the street.

I walk by there every day on my way to and from work, so I'll be sure to post when I see anything else going on there.

A while back, someone asked for pictures of main plaza. I was there on the opening night and brought along my camera. I mostly got the fountains, and there are a few of my friends mixed in, but hopefully y'all will like them:

Very cool. Yeah, I like the fountains too. I had guessed they lit them, nice to see that. Thanks!

Nice pics! I was waiting for a pic with someone taking a bath in the fountains. Hah! There are bikes and strollers going right through them. It seems the fountains will be put to good use.

^ There are days after riding around downtown, or walking, that any water source, particularly fountains are so nice and inviting. Even if you don't jump in like an elementary school student, just hearing it is refreshing and relaxing.

Here's two pics I took of the fountains last month during the forum meet.

On the first picture that sirkingwilliam posted of the church with the pink lights, makes the Main Plaza look like one big outdoor night club.

The city should hire a DJ and put him next to the fountains.

Main Plaza really makes downtown San Antonio very unique.
