Show dominance for sure, but they were not build by the "enemy" that time, as Austria was part of the third empire and not "occupied" violently. Hitler himself was from Austria. A fact many austrians dont want to hear, cause its much more easy to point at the brother after beeing defeated and tell everybody that youre just a victim like all the others while you fought the whole way to the end together.

So those Flak Towers are importand as a reminder what happend and what could happen any time again we start to forget.

yeah, most people in the world think Hitler is from Germany and Beethoven is from Austria. but many autrians are well aware of their past, believe me. it's not like austrian people ignore / forget / abandon the facts, on the contrary.

a friend of mine moved to Austria; as part of the process, he was required to watch "The Downfall."

interesting that some have been converted and adapted. i too am glad they weren't destroyed.
