Foundation for the stadium? Wouldn't they need to wait until the city approves the plans and they get a building permit?

Evidently not. COTA built a soccer stadium without a permit.

Looks like they’re well into site prep.

The files for the 93 page site plan were added to the approved and released site plan, if anyone wants to spend time checking out the stadium details.

Okay, not really McKalla related, except to continue to show how good of a deal we’re getting.

Columbus’s “50M” stadium contribution is now close to double that (not including county/state/nca contributions).

Good to know. Their average attendance this year was only 14,856.

Overheard on the Austin Anthem (independent fan/supporters group) Instagram story:

The team will have a designated rideshare lot and is working with CapMetro for a rail stop. The rail station is not expected to be "a 2021 thing" but a couple of years down the line. This seems consistent with the expected delivery date of Broadmoor block L, where the relocated Kramer stop is supposed to go.

I heard the same on rideshare. They even showed the loop for traffic flow on the little model. The rail thing is pure conjecture. Lotta negotiation needs to happen before anything goes forward on the stop.

Having Braker and Broadmoor/Domain stops makes a lot more sense than just having a Kramer stop. To me, it doesn't seem like it would be that expensive. I guess it's just a question of who pays for it.

The combined cost for both stops is about 30 million if memory serves. It includes the station itself as well as the necessary track improvements which is an issue Austin FC flagged. Cap Metro would likely extend the double tracking from the Kramer area to North of the Broadmore station and to south of the Austin FC stadium. That would be 2 road crossings. My GUESS is they would double track down to the maintenance facility to meet one of their next target segments for double tracking.

Also note that these new stations will likely be twice as long as the current stations so they could support double trains in peak periods.

Has this been discussed as a near-term project for the existing stations or is this just future-proofing? I feel like I saw some cost estimates a long time ago but only as an info item and not as something they had serious plans to do.

Also, for those who know more about the rideshare thing, was the plan to use Delta/Donley/Denton Dr? I saw something in the site plan documents about a pedestrian crossing over the train tracks. It would make some sense to do it near there and ultimately incorporate into the future station.

It's noteworthy though that Delta/Donley/Denton Dr does not have sidewalks.
