{SA} Live Oak Town Center • 1 Million Square Feet • 285-Room Marriott Hotel

From a May 2008 Shopping Business article:

Quote:
In San Antonio, Cencor’s 1-million-square-foot Live Oak Town Center, opening in 2010, has already completed negotiations for five anchors and a 285-room Marriott convention hotel.

Three questions: Where is this in relation to the Randolph-Brooks FCU building? Are they going for high-end retail or more mid-level stuff? Does the presence of a Marriott "convention" hotel imply the presence of a "convention center" of sorts??

I was able to find some more information on this project.

According to site plans, there will be two hotels. A "Hotel Tower" which I assume is the Marriott hotel with an actual convention center building (for Live Oak) next to it. Then there is a 5-story hotel next to a Fitness Center. In between the two hotels is an office development. The southern portion of the development is where the retail center will be.

The red area is Gateway Plaza

The site plan answers two of your questions. Where in a relation to RBFCU this will be and will there be a convention center.

Looks like the hotel has a pretty small footprint, so 285 rooms should mean some fairly substantial height.

The reason I was asking about the convention center is because the KC suburb of Overland Park has a large convention center with like a 15 or 16 story Sheraton hotel, and its in many ways its a nicer area than KC's downtown convention center, so I was wondering if this project would be in any way similar to that.
