Our Sincerest Apologies
We are notifying you that your Swoop flight to San Diego has been cancelled due to the industry-wide Boeing 737 MAX groundings and subsequent aircraft inventory shortages. We understand that this impacts your travel plans and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

To ensure minimal disruption to your travel plans, we have a few options available to assist you:

• We can rebook you on a WestJet flight to/from San Diego on the same day as your original itinerary. *This option will include a connection in Calgary.

• We can provide a full refund of your Swoop reservation.
Go for option 2 via SEA on Alaska.

If the reasoning is the MAX issue then they should have cancelled the YEG-HNL route at the same time no?

YXX-SAN never made sense at all, no shock to see it canned before it started! I feel like YEG still has hope someday

Seems like an excuse unless they were getting Westjet’s retiring 800’s when they got more MAX. Too bad.

HNL was never announced so it will probably be cancelled and passengers rerouted through YVR

According to a study conducted by the Brookings Institute on international gateways in the US from 2012.https://www.brookings.edu/interactiv...litan-america/

YEG was among the top international destinations for SAN (for O&D traffic).

I don't think that route didn't make sense at all.

Not an excuse at all. They were supposed to take delivery of three 738s this fall but apparently that will not happen.

Don't get why we have very limited flights to SJD. I know a lot of people who go down to Cabo San Lucas in the winter. I think YYC has something like three dailies. Not doing a comparison here....but seems like very limited supply of seats to a huge winter destination.

You think Calgary has enough population for 3x daily? You answered the question huh and spoke.

Expect any flight in the winter currently showing as a MAX operated flight to be altered (or cut) shortly. AC and Sunwing have just removed the MAX through April/May. Westjet hasn’t done that yet.

That will include the Honolulu flight as it is on a Max hence Westjet not promoting it.

Good luck if they find a plane for a non stop flight to replace it.

Sounds like AC will be introducing the A220 on domestic routes to/from YEG starting in 2020. Will be nice to see these AC in YEG.

Looks like we will be getting the Airbus 220 next year.

Air Canada last week opened reservation for its planned Airbus A220-300 service, set to enter operation as early as mid-Jan 2020. Initially the A220 will operate various domestic routes and selected US service.

Montreal – Calgary 16JAN20 – 30APR20 11 weekly (3 daily from 05MAR20)
Montreal – Edmonton 05MAR20 – 30APR20 1 daily
Montreal – New York LaGuardia 05MAR20 – 30APR20 1 daily
Montreal – Toronto 19JAN20 – 01MAR20 3 round-trips on Sundays
Montreal – Winnipeg 05APR20 – 30APR20 2 daily
Toronto – Edmonton 06MAR20 – 03APR20 10 weekly
Toronto – Ottawa 07MAR20 – 04APR20 3 round-trips on weekends

https://www.routesonline.com/news/38...tions-in-1q20/

Should we be looking at this as a win in terms of comfort or a loss in terms of the downgrade in seats on the YEG-YYZ run? I see the YEG-YUL route shows as twice daily and doesn't include a red eye option so that's a positive. Or are these routes more for pilot training than anything else?
