Personally I like it because of the different facade systems, even though it's subtle like you said. So many new high-rise buildings built in Chicago have very bland and monotone facade treatments, that it's kinda nice to see a change for once. There is a dialogue between both treatments, they are not working against each other and compliment each other nicely because the window sizes of both are the same size (or closely so).

I'm also digging the three-dimensional depth of the facade. With the exception of a few buildings like The Row, this is one of the first things to get VE'd in most Chicago projects.

Wild, but we'll see things pick up again soon I think. We just need rates to come down and the capital markets to relax a bit. Plenty of shovel-ready projects are waiting in the wings.

It would have been awesome if they transferred the crane to 315 N. May and started that project.

I'm pretty excited about this, the WL at time stills seems like a daytime/workday neighborhood, and a weekend neighborhood. I'd love to see more and more apartments and condos go in there to support a more 24/7 neighborhood. But man oh man, they're gonna have to start putting some more traffic lights on Lake Street because even now, the pedestrian vs car scenario is awkward, Randolph too. But I love how north this development is, I hope they keep pushing north and start to link up to everything kinda along Milwaukee Ave.

pedestrianizing fulton market and giving a road diet (and installing a streetcar) to randolph would do wonders for west loop/chicago and our planning departments are dumb as shit for not capitalizing on the momentum sooner

Really like this project. Love the rounded corner balconies.

Probably my 3nd fav in Fulton after The Row and 800 W Fulton

Really hoping they start Part II the office portion of this development which is even better IMO. (315 N May) https://chicagoyimby.com/2023/05/111...on-market.html

I'd donate a lot of money to a candidate pushing the pedestrianization of Fulton. From Halsted to Ogden, it could be an incredible area. COVID showed us it could be done. Use bollards that can go down to allow deliveries in the AM.

If I'm not mistaken, since we sold our parking rights to the UAE we have to pay them for any spot that is converted in perpetuity (ie pedestrianization) but I could be wrong.

There are cross streets that still have free parking. Just make those paid and it should pencil out.

I hope they some how screen the massive HVAC units on the roof. Currently looks quite terrible.
