Just wait 'til we see our distinctive proud WTC crown spikes . .
on a cutting-edge skyscraper silhouette in London . . .
or perhaps cutting a sharp noble profile against the skies of Shanghai . .

Such a unique timeless gothic-deco steam-punk crown profile . .
isn't going away . . . In no time our priceless urbane design gift . .
will grace the imaginations of citizens in another dynamic 21st century city . .
one with more astute gumption - willing to pay for crucial defining details . . .

They'll revel in exciting views of an eternally gothic-deco skyscraper gem of a concept -
an aesthetic once defining only NYC - the (former?) archetype of urbanity . . .
The children of NY no longer celebrate the edification of architectural stature . . .
They prefer identifying with garbage heaps if they're but a few feet higher.

I'm still squawkin' 'cause I'd have spikes on half the squared off towers in Manhattan . .
Look how horns enhance Walker Tower (Chelsea) - 1st Presbyterian (5th & 11th) -
Houses of Parliament (London) - Downton Abbey (? England ) . . .
They say dignity power prosperity . . .

Thank God they didn't strip off the bold Truss-Armor strengthening the flanks . .
though I'd have preferred a rugged Cor-ten Steel finish . . .
And let's not resign ourselves to this building's baldness yet.

^I share your affinity for spires, but not every single tower needs one. Tower 3 is striking even without its spikes.

3WTC is to George Costanza, as 1WTC is to..

The spires were fine, but I'd rather have that height be the roofline on the skyline. There's a very large spire just a stone's throw away.

Anyone know why one side of the building is lagging behind?

The views that high were magnificent and the observation deck is very airy and spacious! I came away really impressed. The experience from the elevator going up all the way to the deck is very dramatic. By far my favorite OD in the city.

The lucky few that will be living in the upper levels of the Nordstrom will have the same breathtaking views every day, except looking downtown of course. Damn.

Agree, its the roofline not the spire that makes the building look tall.

The roofline taller is a welcome sign, but I do think the spires (if lit right) could have given the complex another visual point on the skyline. With the 2 redesign and the loss of the spires, it is basically a collection of boxes. I would love to see 2 WTC or 3 WTC do a surprise outside observation deck like the south tower had. That was really awesome! They could reimagine part of the 1 WTC deck in more of a widows of the world space. I have been to the new "one world" and I have to say the views were amazing, but the food and drink areas were expensive and not all that accessible for someone who didn't pay the VIP nonsense. I think an outside observation deck at 2 or 3 would be awesome not that they have flat roof tops!

Video from a few days ago. Can see many towers u/c. For best results, make it fullscreen and either at 1440p or 2160p. Can see WTC3, Leonard, Church, beakman, 432, riverside center, and so on.

Neat vid, 432 Park really impresses, and even tho it blends in I thought 99 Church looked quite elegant.
