Not that I really care but this seems like the wrong direction for The Village to head in...

Contstruction on the new Nissan dealership in Mount Pearl on Topsail Road seems to be moving ahead quickly. It's a fairly large building. Should be nice when it's completed.

I noticed in the City of St. John's Committee of the Whole minutes from last week that there was a proposal for a park in Galway that the City has decided not to fund this year. They have accepted the plan but will not commit to fund it even though it will be a City park.

Let Danny pay for it; it’s his development. Why should the city fund his empire? But don’t worry, if he wants it he’ll just scream and ball and threaten to sue everyone from Galway to Gander until he gets his own way.

Here are some concepts drawings and plans of the proposed new Mews Centre at Mundy Pond off Blackler Avenue next to the ball field. Here is a link to the main article that the images are from. It looks kinda nice actually.

I'm all for facilities that promote an active and healthy lifestyle and there is no doubt that the Mews Centre is well past its best before date but my only concerns is can the City afford the $25 M (approx) price tag at this time. Defer it for a year or two.

On another note, I hope it is built better than the Paul Reynolds Centre, which has had its share of issues since it opened.

And finally, there is always plenty of discussion whenever subsidies for Mile One and SJCC come up but does anyone realize that these community centers are also subsidized (I think the deficit for Paul Reynolds was a bit more than $1 million last year). All factors to be weighed I'm sure...or maybe not.

A new 80-unit apartment building is being proposed for the former Scotsburn/Brookfield Ice-cream plant on LeMarchant Road. Rendering is featured in linked Telegram article.

This building would be a welcome addition to this neighbourhood, assuming the rents will be reasonable. Just west of this location are other vacant buildings/lots that could also be used for additional developments to further increase the density of this area. A few more places like this might get renters out of substandard housing.

More development rumours for the former Grouchys Tire building and Brookfield Icecream building. Sounds interesting.

No idea, but it looks a bit odd with that house still sort of half in front of it. Surprised it was approved like that...

Building on Brant Drive off Kenmount Rd. ?

Just noticed this building on Brant Drive, which I assume is a warehouse by the Metro self-storage on Kenmount Rd.

Drove in around but no signs to be seen.

Anyone know what it is? Just curious.

Thanks
Ed
