Overall I like them (and even if they were horrible, anything is a damn site nicer than the vacant eyesore it was). I wish they'd gone with a more vibrant color for those river-side apartments, though

I know they did that about a decade ago. I might have some photos somewhere. It was pretty cool, artists would convert their studios to stores and have parties, especially during First Fridays. Not sure if they still are studios or will be again, but it would be something great if this new venue can capture some of the energy that once emanated from that place.

Were you around Blue Star in the "old days," when James Lifshutz's dad Bernard owned the place? First Fridays had a much larger party atmosphere, bordering on dangerous; local art up the yingyang! So awesome. The old "Arte in the Hood" show was first held at the mill and it was such a mishmash of people; talk about Bohemian!

They got this area fenced off pretty much, so this was the closest I could get trying to show the heart of the development. I hope the power lines go away. We shall see.

I walked by this 2 weekends ago and took some photos but I'm not sure how to add them here. This place is massive. Absolutely MASSIVE. AND looks to be of better quality than I expected. It's a great addition to the area. I'm interested to know what the retail component will be. They have a large, dedicated retail area at the entrance and those silos!! They better do something cool with those!

Same impressions here. I didn't realize the scale of this development. There was still a lot of work going on, but I thought the different units were interesting and looked nice (for apartments).

Considering the total number of units going up in the area it's going to be a different vibe once everything is leased. Blue Star was always mostly sleepy and funky. I can't imagine it will ever feel like that again.

The next thing they need to do is to make Probandt/S Alamo walkable. It's a strange configuration there.
