A reflecting pool around the base of Vessel would be quite stunning.

Even though it looks like there's a lot of space to fan out on the sculpture once you get to the upper tiers, it seems like there might be a bottleneck at the bottom considering how narrow it gets. Hopefully this doesn't become another NY attraction with a long line to enter.. (see rain room, cronuts, cookie do)

I wonder what percentage will actually try to make it up to the top. It will be stop and go for many. If there is a wait, people will do it. They will likely be entertained by surround events though. I imagine the observation deck will allow for advanced reservation like all the decks are doing now.

This thing may end up being more striking than the Calatrava WTC oculus.

Yeah. It's not even halfway up yet, but we're getting a taste of how spectacular it will be.

Barely halfway up, and I'm already tired looking at the climb...

I feel like I can totally envision at some point after the completion of this phase of Hudson Yards, a marathon-like annual athletic competition consisting of running up and down the structure a certain number of times...kind of like the event they used to hold (still hold?) at the Empire State Building.

Great having the shed right there for associated festivities #vesselrun2032

Yes. They are supposed to be finished by the end of the year, but the opening of the entire plaza was put on hold until the buildings open, now sometime early 2019.

^Wish it wasn't the ohm building as the terminus for hudson boulevard's view corridor. Some really high quality architecture all around- even related's new residential building next door- and then that sticks out like a cheap thumb. At least take the rental banners off.

Is this something that, after it's initial opening, most New Yorkers wont give a damn about? Being from Chicago this seem more on par with the "Bean" as a tourist attraction, more so than anything. Much more interactive, but a trap nonetheless.
