^It's a great angle of the city. The TNS towers are quite visible too.

But that gap to the right of the Radisson...

I'm actually quite impressed with all the different colours those trees are showing in Autumn. Definately more of a variation than most people would think could be found in Winnipeg. Very beautiful.

I agree but when you get into the eastern provinces around autumn, I'd have to say that the difference is massive. I mean they have red trees around fall. The colors there are just more vibrant. Truly beautiful. By comparison, I find our foliage to be much less easy to differentiate at any time of year.

The gap is more than a skyline gap, there is a growing physical disconnect between the parts of downtown. You have the Convention Centre/MTS Centre cluster with a lot of activity, and of course the Portage and Main cluster with a lot of activity. The gap in between is mostly small, old, somewhat underused buildings and a bunch of parking. Walking down Portage or Graham from, say, Fort to Smith is a pretty sad looking sight.

The effect has become more pronounced in recent years with all the development in the RBCCC and P&M clusters.

Very true. It would be nice to see more residential fill that gap. We have those small conversions on Portage (the Avenue, and the one that's still underway at smith and portage I think it is). We really needed SkyCity haha

There was this tower proposed to go in/near the gap. It was going to be the tallest anywhere. Can't quite remember the story there... hmm.. lol

Always nice to see them again though, they are really great shots.

Southern Ontario and southern Quebec have a long extended autumn season and the milder winters allow a greater variety of deciduous trees to survive. From November through February, Toronto averages about 10°C warmer than Winnipeg in terms of mean temperatures and Montreal 5 or 6°. Having said that, I find the winters miserable and in many respects more difficult down east. I can't stand freezing rain, slushy snow (and for Montreal at least, that means massive amounts), bone-chilling dampness and bucket loads of salt.

It's photoshopped. Well, unless there are stars between us and the moon now.
