I'm really liking what the Grand Hyatt has done for the skyline...and I'm also liking the fact that the penthouse seems to be lit multi-colored.

The difference between daytime SA and nighttime SA has got to be as dramatic as any city in the country. Daytime = brown and unremarkable > Nighttime = hauntingly gorgeous.

Just imagine if Tower Life, Marriott Rivercenter, and Bank of America Plaza had their lights on in that picture!

I was thinking that too, but I think TL would've made the biggest difference because of its position in the picture. I actually prefer MR when its just the glowing red letters and marker lights on the spires. It just looks kinda dark and evil that way

Still, what is the deal with so many lights being off? Energy conservation?

They turn the lights off after midnight on the Marriott and BOAP (and apparently Tower Life too), so that's probably when the picture was taken.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. The reason some of the buildings weren't lighted is that this picture was taken about 2 or 3 in the morning, I totally forgot that they turn off the lights in the late evening. I will take the picture again, earlier, the first chance I get. My in-laws live close to Inspiration Point, so I just need to remember to take my camera with me next time I go.

Also, the vistana, should be peaking up on the right hand side anytime soon. Imagine when it is done and lighted. Even though it wont be that tall. It will add a little hight and density in that area.

i agree. was downtown at a meeting at the sa river authority and noticed that vistana is growing quickly now - and really going to be an eyecatcher on that side of downtown. there aren't many tall structures in the area and that sucker is going to look taller than it actually is....

Does anybody know the Vistana's exact height? With the spire, it looks like it could be around 250-270 ft.

I doubt it will hit 250 feet. I think the spire will only be at 17 stories so, i quess it might hit 200-220 feet.

i sent Kevin some actual architectural plans on the building at one point. i think we had a good height estimate there.... Schertz has it at 209' on the big page....

From that picture, it looks like 3 more floors; then the 3 floor penthouse/spire (or whatever they are calling that apartment on top).

Shoot, with the Vidorra topped out, and the Vistana almost topped out, and nothing else breaking ground, downtown SA might be without cranes for awhile
