Located in the borough of Bell Acres 20 miles northwest of downtown Pittsburgh is this gem at 137 BEECH RIDGE DR SEWICKLEY, PA 15143.

Constructed between 2001 - 2003, this 3 story home features 39,146 sq ft of finished living space. 12 bedrooms, 21 bathrooms (13 full, 8 half), 22 fireplaces & a 15 car garage. Marble was imported from all over the world in its construction.

The owner is a real estate developer in his 50's in the fast growing North Hills suburbs of Pittsburgh.

^ Looks more like a hotel or resort. Why would someone want to build a single home that big? Unless they have a really huge family. lol

Because their penis is metaphorically bigger than yours. They want to make sure every one on the block knows it.

^ eh I don't see any difference in building a $100 Million dollar house or buying a $100 Million dollar condo. To each his/her own.

If I had unlimited resources I would probably make up some kind of crazy house too.

This is an awesome thread, keep them coming!

PA Pride: I'm surprised the taxes on that house are "only" $18k. Around here, taxes on a house like that would be upwards of $100k/yr

Probably the owner still think it is not enough comparing how much zeros in the bank accounts are, but the owner prefered to be shy in neighborhood not to be comparable to what kings did the same to Palaces like Versailles, Ludwig to Neuschwanstein and many other impressive much more bigger castles around the world. Einstein explain: Everything is a relative question. If you had $ 1³ billion in your account and getting each day millions more, you really would not know to do, how to invest, even not knowing that a coke for you would be only some $ 3 because your references would be much higher and you would really not caring if your bills improve to some $ 10 thousand for each lunch somewhere in world that most of things would be only some cents. Of course i don't feel myself necessary comfortable in this palace, how big it is, but everbody is free to decide the privacy for eachself, if not disturbing the others and in 'laws'.

If he's going to spend that much money on historicist architecture he should at least make it look authentic. That house just looks fake and cheap.

Not sure why they say $18k on there. I did the math out of curiosity and you are much more accurate. The assessed value being at $4,044,900 and the millages adding up to 29.89 = Yearly property taxes of $120,902.

And to the others: whether you love it or it makes you cringe I think it at least qualifies as an "Amazing Home".

I think the English (and the French) have outdid the rest of the world in private home building. I can't imagine anything ever topping some of the palaces that have been built.

It's ugly and I'm not impressed. In addition, the fact it has 21 bathrooms suggests to me the owner has serious bladder control problems. I would be so tempted to throw this faux-whateverthefuckitis sucker into the Tacky House thread!

I'm sure if you were handed the keys you wouldn't mind hanging your hat there.

People can say what they want about these overly large homes, but the fact is they are impressive.

I'd be selling it and buying the clock tower loft

Unless you like thowing huge parties for like-minded rich douchebags or fancy yourself as the next Hugh Hefner, who wants a oversized empty POS in the middle of nowhere? Not I.

I'm an environmentalist and an urban planner, wasteful estate residential properties annoy me.
