It's so awkward. Incongruous dark mechanical bands on one side, clumsy massing, the blunt top.

I think I've said it before but it makes 432 Park look well thought out in comparison.

I just can't bring myself to like this one. It's just awkward in massing, and isn't really a good fit for the skyline. It does have a nice facade though, and the crown lighting should be visible on the skyline.

Oof. I don’t see how anyone could think it’s worse than the lazy design of 432. They’ve at least made attempts to provide visual interest and a proper crown here. Is the result as stellar as 111? No, but it’s a perfectly fine building nonetheless.

432's beauty is in its simplicity. This one is clunky.

They're both awful and horrendous examples of "massing architecture" basically just made it as tall and cheap as possible under allowable mass.

Considering their deleterious effects on the NYC skyline and how bad they look hopefully developers with some semblance of self-dignity would not want to have something so prominently ugly attached to their legacies, despite the favorable profit margins.

The Jokers whom enabled these 2 atrocious conspicuous behemoths obviously did not mind their legacies tarnished. Sheesh!

CPT desperately needs a spire.

I mean, it's fine, as a background building, but as the current tallest in Midtown, it screams for a spire.

I agree with this. It adds a visible "beacon" to the skyline but i think it's far from the worst design to ever grace NY. I mean, if they added something as tall as CPT but with the design aesthetics of the Verizon Building in downtown, THAT would be bad! Seeing this with my own eyes a few days ago, I think CPT's real presence will be enjoyed later this year once it's lit up with 111W57!

So how much longer before the remaining hoist is finally gone?

NY YIMBY says: “YIMBY expects the hoist to be fully dismantled sometime between late spring and summer. The sidewalk scaffolding along West 57th Street that bears the Nordstrom name will also be removed once work on the tower above is totally completed.”

When will they close the thin narrow gap that is very high where it’s small piece of skeleton is exposed?

Vista in Chicago had one of these for what seemed like a long time too.

It's almost time! I think by the end of the summer, the next two icons to grace the skyline will be lit up (if only to test the lights)! CPT will showcase a variety of colors across multiple rows of LEDs, while 111 will have its east and west sides lit aglow with bands of white light on the terracotta, along with a glowing and shimmering crown!

The architects said it would be a soft white, although the base sometimes goes multiple colors.
