Sheraton Four Seasons Greensboro Joseph S Koury Convention Center with over 1,000 guest rooms, it's the largest hotel in the Carolinas. The 28-story triangular tower is also the tallest hotel in the state.

A little information about Greensboro.
Greensboro is the third largest city in North Carolina. Only Charlotte and Raleigh are larger. At Greensboro's current growth rate, the city is expected to surpass 300,000 people within six years. Greensboro is located in Guilford County which has a population of 517,000 people. The next largest city in the county is High Point which has 110, 000 people. The two cities have grown together towards one another and is now one continuous urban area. The city boasts the largest arena in North Carolina at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex with 23,500 seats and a 28-story 1,000 room hotel and convention center 2 miles southwest of downtown. Some of the city's attractions are Wet n' Wild Emerald Pointe, (12th largest water park in the United States), Grandover Resort, Guilford National Military Park, The Blandwood Mansion and the Greensboro Science Center Zoo & Aquarium. The city has recently seen a surge of new upscale restaurants and retail stores such as Wolfgang Puck, Ruth Chris, Cheesecake Factory, Brooks Brothers, ect
Greensboro has two large universities (UNC Greensboro & NC A&T State Univ), including Elon University School of Law, three colleges (Greensboro College, Bennett College & Guilford College) and one community college (Guilford Technical Community College) UNCG and NC A&T recently opened a joint research park called Gateway University Research Park which includes a school of nonoscience & technology. The city is served by one airport (Piedmont Triad International Airport) and three interstates merge in the city I-40, I-85 & I-73. Greensboro has several major corporations based in the city. Honda Aircraft Company world headquarters & its jet factory, Volvo Trucks of North America, Mack Trucks, Qorvo, Market America, The Fresh Market, the insurance division of Lincoln Financial, ITG Brands which is the third largest tobacco company in the U.S. (maker of Salem, Kool and Winston cigarettes), Cone Mills, International Textile Group, Tanger Factory Outlets, Vf Corporation which is the largest apparel company in the world and is known for brands such as Nautica, The North Face, Lee and Wrangler. The Wrangler Jeans division is also headquartered in Greensboro. Recently Arch Capital Group decided to relocate it's corporate headquarters to Greensboro. After a current acquisition goes through it will become the largest mortgage insurance company in the United States. Traditionally Greensboro's economy has centered around textiles, insurance, tobacco and being a distribution and logistics hub but the city is now attracting high-tech industries. Greensboro has hosted a number of major sports events such as the ACC Men's & Women's college basketball tournaments, NCAA games and the National Figure Skating Championships. Greensboro is home to the PGA Wyndham Championship.
DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENTS
Downtown Greensboro has seen explosive growth over the past 15 years with condos, apartments, restaurants, and nightclubs. Some key projects that have helped fuel downtown growth are the the depot (multi-modal transportation hub), downtown ballpark, Triad Stage, center-city park, conversion of a 16-story office tower into condos and the International Civil Rights Museum in the old Woolworth store where the Greensboro sit-ins took place. The Greensboro sit-ins started a nationwide lunch counter sit-in movement in 1960.
RECENTLY COMPLETED PROJECTS
LEBAUER CITY PARK
This unique urban park recently opened and includes:
- concert lawn with an aerial sculpture designed by sculptor and artist Janet Echelman
- interactive splash fountain with fog and light effects
- game areas for ping pong, foosball, and cornhole
- putting green
- dog park
- urban playground
- outdoor reading room
- ornamental gardens
- two restaurants
- area for food trucks
The park was donated to the city of Greensboro and is located between Center-City Park, the Greensboro Cultural Arts Museum, The Greensboro Historical Museum, The main Library and the future Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts.

WACHOVIA (WELLS FARGO) BANK TOWER RENOVATION
This 16-story office tower which was constructed in the 1960s was renovated and turned into a condominium tower with an upscale restaurant on the ground level. Its called Center Pointe.

CENTER-CITY PARK
This fairly new downtown park is sandwiched in between The Center Pointe condo tower and LeBauer City Park. The park is known for its beautiful landscaping and fountains.

NEWBRIDGE BANK PARK (downtown)
the downtown ballpark opened in 2005 and has since then attracted restaurants, breweries, upscale apartments and hotel development nearby. The ballpark meets AA standards and can expand to a AAA ballpark. The architecture is a cross between the old Ebbets Field in Brooklyn, NY and Churchill Downs in Kentucky with the white siding on the exterior upper deck.

THE INTERNATIONAL CIVIL RIGHTS MUSEUM (downtown)
This former Woolworth store was the site of a nationwide lunch counter sit-in movement started by four North Carolina A&T State college students. The event took place on February 1, 1960 and jump started the civil rights movement of the 1960s. The museum is home to many artifacts from the civil rights era from a shard of stain glass from the Birmingham church bombing to hand notes from Martin Luther King Jr.

Downtown Greensboro now has a full service grocery store
SOUTHEASTERN BUILDING RENOVATION (downtown)
Greensboro's first high-rise was converted to apartments and offices.
OLD DAILY FLOUR MILL (downtown)
This historic building was converted to the Duck Head corporate headquarters. Duck Head was a very popular clothing brand in the 1980s.
MOREHEAD FOUNDRY MULTIPLEX (downtown)
an old warehouse was renovated and converted to a multiplex that includes two restaurants, a bakery/cafe, event venue and a speakeasy. The building holds Four Flocks and Larder, a renegade-themed upscale restaurant that seats more than 260 inside plus a patio outside. Those dining will find chicken, turkey, duck and quail on the menu.Next door is Revolution Burger, a fast casual restaurant where they are all about the beef. Burgers are 100 percent grass-fed and finished. Also The Baker and the Bean for homemade cake, cookies, pies, ice cream and pastries. The multiplex is adjacent to a four mile greenway loop under construction around downtown Greensboro.

CONE DENIM ENTERTAINMENT CENTER (downtown)
This is a live music House of Blues affiliate venue which includes the Indigo Lounge. located in the heart of downtown's entertainment and restaurant district. This venue is one of two House of Blues affiliated venues in North Carolina. The other is the Filmore in uptown Charlotte's Music Factory. Its basically a smaller House of Blues without the name.

first phase of UNION SQUARE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS (downtown)
The first phase of an mixed-use downtown interuniversity campus opened which includes an educational building where Cone Health, UNC Greensboro, NC A&T State Univ. and GTCC collaborate on medical sciences. The entire project will eventually include more educational buildings, public plaza apartments and a hotel. It will become an anchor for an emerging downtown university district.

PLANNED/UNDER DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS
STEVEN TANGER CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS (downtown)
Construction will begin this year on a 3,000 seat state-of-the-art performing arts center in downtown Greensboro which will become the largest in the Carolinas. The facility cost $78 million and is being built with over $35 million from foundations and private donations with the rest being paid for through user fees and hotel/motel tax. A rooftop terrace will over look LeBauer City Park. The center is named after Steven Tanger, president of Greensboro based Tanger Outlets. The center will host the Greensboro, Symphony, Broadway productions, concerts, comedy shows and other touring productions.
CARROLL AT BELLEMEADE (downtown)
a mixed-use development currently under construction across the street from NewBridge Bank Ballpark. The development will include 300 upscale apartments, retail and a 110 room Hyatt Place Hotel/Conference Center. There will be a roof top clubhouse and rooftop pools overlooking the ballpark.

PROJECT 561 / ALOFT HOTEL (downtown)
Developer Roy Carroll has plans for a mixed-use 28-story office tower to be constructed on top of an 8 story parking deck. The tower would have a spire push it up to 561 feet tall making it the tallest building in North Carolina outside of Charlotte. The project will include a boutique hotel and will be located across the street from NewBridge Bank Ballpark. Last week it was announced that a 150 room Aloft hotel will be built on this site with an opening date of 2020.
THE WESTIN GREENSBORO (downtown)
A Westin luxury hotel will be constructed behind and above the Elm Street Center Conference Center. The high-rise building will have at least 8 floors and will be built above a 4 or 5 story parking deck. In addition to the hotel, the project will include upscale apartments and shops. The opening date for this project is 2019.
The facade of the Elm Street Center Conference Center will be re-skinned and will be the main entrance for the Westin Greensboro.
HAMPTON INN & SUITES (downtown)
CN Hotels is building a 100 plus room Hampton Inn & Suites in the southern end of downtown. So far there is no construction timetable.
DOWNTOWN GREENWAY (downtown)
This four mile loop around downtown is the first of its kind in the United States. Two phases have already opened and will include four cornerstone art monuments and art throughout the loop, biking trails, pocket parks and more. The greenway will connect with a city wide greenway system which includes a planned greenway connecting downtown with midtown.

WET WILLIE'S at the railyard (downtown)
The "railyard" is a collection of restauraunts near South Elm Street which will now include a Wet Willie's frozen daiquiri bar.
OLD GREENSBOROUGH GATEWAY CENTER (downtown)
This historic building on the south end of downtown will be converted to upscale offices. It was an old Blue Bell textile factory in 1919.
TRACKS - ENTERTAINMENT/SHOPS/RESTAURANT COMPLEX (downtown)
developer Marty Kotis plans to convert an old tour bus terminal into a collection of restaurants, bars, a beer garden and an entertainment venue. The area is located near the "Rail Yard" restaurant complex. Tracks will include a speakeasy and Kotis just recently acquired even more land for this project which was an old lumber yard. some of the structure he will keep to give it that kind of funky look. The lumber yard area will feature a brewery, micro shops, wine coffe shop and more. A weekly crafts market will be held here. The site is already being temporarily used for some functions.

UNION SQUARE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS (downtown)
This university campus will included classrooms, research labs, public plaza retail, office, apartments and a hotel. The first phase has been completed and it will anchor an emerging downtown university district. Union Square is a collaboration between Cone Health, UNC Greensboro, NC A&T State University and Guilford Technical Community College.
