i agree.

transamerica peaking SF's skyline for 4.5 decades was pretty neat, but not neat enough to warrant freezing the city's skyline in time for the rest of human civilization.

onward and upward!

I had posted this one before on the skylines thread, but I forgot to post it on here. This is about 16 miles from Boston based on measuring on google maps.

I don't think it should be frozen in time forever, I just think it looked better without the giant dildo. Haha

SF's new taller-but-less-graceful skyline is not as bad as when Comcast eclipsed One Liberty in Philadelphia.

I actually kinda like the Salesforce Tower. I dare say I prefer it to One Wilshire Grand when comparing the tallest in California two megacities...

Looking at the two previous pics I posted again it still wows me how big Lake St Clair actually is, guess it is 430 sq mi just always looks so small on a map. Anyways I had posted this one before on the development thread its one of the better really far away shots of the skyline I've seen.

"Up to date and modern" isn't a positive skyline attribute, IMO. Dallas and Vancouver don't have distinctive or interesting skylines, specifically because they're "up to date and modern".
I actually think Dallas's skyline looks quite dated.

Both pics by me. Taken today, 6-11-18 from the Throggs Neck. Depending on the part of the skyline for Manhattan, can be anywhere from 8 miles to 10 miles in distance from the point of where I was. Approximating here.

Don't let the pics fool you, the skyline continues to the right of the pics and even the left. Its quite long!

I suspect that the people deriding the new SF skyline have not seen it in person. As others have said the new towers really do not alter or obscure the old skyline North of Market. And besides the Transamerica Pyramid has long been obscured from the Bay Bridge approach by a cluster of tan cereal boxes erected in the 1970's and 1980's. The "new skyline" has been built entirely South of Market and has produced a dramatic jump in scale. Additionally, most of new towers are far more attractive than those built during the previous 3 decades. I think collectively they improve the skyline 100%.

@Steely Dan Steely Dan. That pic of Chicago at sunset is epic even though it shows only a fraction of the it's massive skyline.
