UA2243 is about an hour out of YOW, coming from SAN. It's a 764. Leaving at 19:40L as UA2264 to SFO. Wonder why. Not showing up on the YOW FIDs.

Should be here in Ottawa in less than 20 minutes. http://flightaware.com/live/flight/U...710Z/KSAN/CYOW

It was a charter but I don't know what for. It can't be for sports related purposes, the only one that would make sense would be an Ottawa Fury opponent, but their next game is against a team based in Indianapolis who played their previous match in North Carolina, so that rules it out.

I wonder if the plane will be back to collect pax and bring them back to SAN. If I hear anything I'll let you all know.

As a complete aside, the pax numbers look pretty good for July, nice to have some good news around here for a change.

EDIT: Apparently it was a military charter.

AC464 will be a Boeing 787-9 tonight. Scheduled to arrive at 20:13. Back to YYZ as AC467 at 20:55.

Whoa, I believe that's the first-ever scheduled 787 service to YOW. The Mexican -8 during the three amigos summit was I believe the first non-touch-and-go 788 to YOW.

Domestic looks good, but transborder is still terrible and international, while slightly negative, is at least rather stable this month after a terrible first half.

Sector / Jul-15 / Jul-16 / % Change
Dom: 320,865 / 333,951 / +4.1% - New all-time record for the 2nd consecutive month
TB: 52,363 / 46,863 / -10.5% - I wonder how much domestic growth is due to YOW pax now making a transborder connection at YYZ? Under 47k pax to the US are lows not seen since YOW gained pre-clearance almost 20 years ago.
Int'l: 23,790 / 22,963 / -3.5%
TTL: 397,018 / 403,777 / +1.7% - 1st time July's been over the 400k mark.

Year-to-date:
Sector / YTD 2015 / YTD 2016 / % Change
Dom: 1,982,174 / 2,071,388 / +4.5%
TB: 459,493 / 412,799 / -10.2%
Int'l: 305,242 / 268,711 / -12.0%
TTL: 2,746,909 / 2,752,898 / +0.2%

12 month rolling:
Sector / % Change vs Year End 2015
Dom: 3,577,843 / +4.2%
TB: 689,061 / -7.0%
Int'l: 395,445 / -10.3%
TTL: 4,662,349 / +0.1% - this is still approx. 23,500 pax below 2012's peak.

Nope, Dreamliner from Air Canada has been on an Ottawa-Toronto flight before on several occasion.

B788:
- Sept 18, 2014 for ACA458 (I don't have a record on the return flight back to Toronto)
- Sept 19, 2014 for ACA462/467
- Dec 17, 2014 for ACA462/467

B789:
- July 14, 2016 for ACA464/467
- Aug 26, 2016 for ACA464/467

I have a whole bunch of Flightaware e-mail alerts setup, and have a record.

Thanks.

On a separate note Austrian have started codesharing on YOW-FRA: http://www.routesonline.com/news/38/...from-aug-2016/

The more connectivity YOW-FRA has, the better.

Cool! Hopefully any extra pax gained from this might help get a 333 back on that route next summer.

That would be a shocker given the 333s are getting a > 30 seat capacity boost. I just hope the route resumes around April 1, 2017 instead of this year's May 19th.

How are they achieving that? Tighter leg room? Less biz seats? 3-3-3 config?

Less biz mostly. Also introducing a small Y+ cabin and no doubt the Y cabin will be a slightly tighter pitch.

Why does Air Canada show a direct, non stop, flight to Copenhagen from Ottawa? I'm assuming it's a mistake on their map?

I can assure you it would be pretty big news here if AC started flying to Copenhagen... definitely a mistake on their route map.

The Chinese premier may visit Ottawa this month, so we could see an Air China 744! http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/...ticle30730397/

Found out today that YEG has 4x weekly KL 332 service from AMS, and they have just under eight million pax annually. Frustrating that YOWs pax numbers continue to be pretty stagnant because it seems like they'll never reach that level to get a European carrier.

I don't really understand it. YWG is actually catching you.
