So excited for this, I think it'll also be a confidence boost to the city to build more supertalls in the near future

Not to mention Wolf Point South soon after.

With those projects, the rest of WP, 150 and River Point, Grant Park Tower (and Trump, Marina, Trib, Aon, Aqua etc...) the east-west vicinity of the river is really the place to be. Hopefully those two supertalls set the table for the Spire site.

kngkyle - thanks for posting those new renderings.

I've got to say that I've been pretty consistently unimpressed with the interior unit renderings. The interior hotel common/public area renderings, on the other hand, have been quite spectacular on the whole.

Most concerning to me are these insider reports of major VE on the exterior. Please, someone - anyone - please tell me they decided against VEing to a window wall facade system.......(not that you can't still do strong architecture with it, but still please tell me they're not just the same!)

Wolf Point East will be starting sometime next year. There's no telling when South will get built, unfortunately.

What effect will this have on the appearance?

The exterior facade is stair-stepped, not sloped as the renderings once showed.

Like i originally pointed out, so much of the $$ in this project are going to the totally unjustifiable form (hugely expensive structural gymnastics, totally unconventional (in a bad way) details) rather than form-follow-functions, rational and thoughtful details, etc., etc., (re recent discussion of Sears and Hancock in High Rise thread)... still, will be fun seeing it go up...

Sad, but that is more or less what was shown in the last renderings.

It would be great to see the sloped glass, but it probably works out better for everyone on ground level who won't get flashed by sun reflections now.

Depends on below surface conditions and obstructions. September is in two weeks.

Be glad we're seeing activity. It's progress.

Light poles gone, road largely gone, utilities moved, western half of site was cleared of debris (still piled up) last week. Eastern half of site being cleared this week. Caissons likely start next week I would wager.
