The Montgomery County Multi-purpose Events Center (arena) has started the construction process by clearing of the land near downtown where the 5,000 seat arena will go. Barricades and fencing are up and excavation should be starting soon. The renderings have been revised somewhat from the original revealed a year ago, but still features the 5,000 seat arena and a separate room with a sheet of ice for Junior Hockey and public skating.
The primary occupants of the 'arena' will be the Austin Peay State Men's and Women's basketball teams. It is known that minor league hockey is strongly desired to help fill the building, which will be managed by the group that owns the Nashville Predators and manages the wildly successful Bridgestone area in Nashville.

Even though Montgomery County (2020 est. population 217,820) is actually building the facility, Clarksville (2020 est. population 164,496) will be taking a large step towards being the surprisingly large city that it actually is and not just a distant (45 miles) appendage of Nashville.
