That would be great, kind of like Michigan Ave in Chicago.

578 N Michigan Ave

Or Park Avenue in New York:

Park Avenue median looks a bit wider, which probably makes landscaping easier, but South Broad is still wide enough to fit a little bulldozer... https://www.google.com/maps/place/10...!4d-75.1645249

I would landscape the median but I wouldn't plant trees. I wouldn't want to block the iconic view looking toward City Hall.

I don't think trees would do that. At least maybe if they don't start till Walnut. Pics next to a weeping cherry with City Hall in the background would look nice in wedding photos!

Don't forget that the subway and its concourse (down to around Pine St.) so there might not be much in the way of a natural environment such as soil and drainage for a tree to live in.

Why can't the cops make an illegal U-turn at the intersections like the rest of us clowns do?

Hey, it works on Park Ave, so why not?

Could be. But pretty sure all of Park Avenue from 47th to 97th Streets runs above Metro-North Railroad tracks, which run in a tunnel underneath. That has to pose logistical challenges as well. May we manage to get funding like they did...

Yep. The flowers and greenery in the median of Park Avenue are privately maintained by the Fund for Park Avenue. But something similar is being looked at here too.

Or, right in our backyard, the lovely median of Spring Garden Street.

Landscaped medians, not one of our city's strong points.

They have turned out to be such a success, and dirt cheap at about $2M each, that they should get planted all over the City. I sure tourists from wide and far will come racing in to see our------flag poles?

Does Park Ave. NYC have real trees planted?

With that in mind, I should report that I heard what sounded like construction while I walked by the Photo Fence.

For 2MM a pop, there should be something protective around it beside a 6 inch curb median. Maybe a decorative concrete planter with some nice plants surrounding it. I thought from a while back there was some green beautification that was suppose to happen along broad street from city hall to at least temple u main campus.

New zoning/use permit as of 6/21: https://li.phila.gov/#details?entity...S%20BROAD%20ST

An additional couple floors are being added from the previous iteration (seems to be smaller than the original proposal), which I doubt anyone is too upset about B-) Also, it still looks like there is a hotel component? This conflicts with the other intel we've heard, but definitely encouraging seeing this still making moves.

This project is crawling as slow as rush-hour traffic.

It has been awhile since I lived in NYC, but I don't think Park Avenue and most other avenues have a '400 block,' but instead the 400 street numbers stretch over multiple blocks.
