That's too bad. I suppose it's harder for smaller cities to embrace a true downtown since it was never as prominent as it would be for cities that were big earlier, where downtown would have been a very important place.

Yeah, there's been a complete 180 in the way cities develop since the post war era. (mid-20th century) Due to the way the modern economy functions, it's more attractive to live in single family homes with a front and back yard.
