The city is easing height restrictions on south Provencher. From 30 feet to 60 feet. Good news. Hopefully this will spur development in the lot beside Le Garage. (Very sad to see the medical problems with Ray the owner..I like that guy).

I think that's been in the works for a while now. Now matches the north side of the street I believe. 6 storey limit. We'll see if it spurs any new development.

I've been to Le Garage a few times. Nice little place. Never met the owner, but heard something has happened.

In speaking to staff at Garage, they don't seem to have ANY interest in developing the lot. More than happy with the parking, especially during the day where they're packed for lunch. They were looking at putting a patio on the side but I don't think they wanted to spend the money for what the city required there patio be (ex: not gravel).

Not often that an overhead crossing structure enhances the look of an area, but the new one going up on Tache and Cathedral is really nice. It frames the street nicely in my opinion. Also much needed in the summer when a constant flow of strollers/tourists head for the cathedral. Well done!

That must be moving quickly... I last passed by that way maybe early June and IIRC there was no sign of anything happening yet.

Are there any drawings of what it's going to look like when complete?

Not that I am aware of. They are up though, just not operating yet.

Garage is too dark, dimly lit for my Cataract eyes. I asked the person working that day if they the coffee they served was like McDonald's, they said Yes, so I went elsewhere.

Postal is brighter and is east of it. Good coffee too. Postal has been in business since about 2012

Any ideas who built that building on Tache? It's been going on for (I think) 2 years but no sign of builder and never seen anything for sale.

I had to go take a look, because I was really surprised that a pedestrian bridge would be built there. But I see that by "overhead crossing structure" you actually mean "crosswalk with overhead signs".

But yes, it was sorely needed at that location. Can't believe there wasn't already a crosswalk there.

Haha, that's what I thought too... I envisioned a pedestrian bridge. What sort of engineer-speak is "overhead crossing structure"

That place on Tache turned out pretty nice! Not a fan of cultured stone usually, but doesn't look to bad there. I love the water pump station with the ivy growing on it.

4 story 20 unit build is proposed for 153 Aubert st. Between Tache and St. Joseph. Immediately east of the verve condos. Currently the site of lawn care business operation. Going to riel committee on October 27 with recommended approval.
Nice. One grungy lot at a time repurposed. Provencher will thrive someday, just not in my lifetime!

This lot just got sold, and this house is being restored.

There's been some awesome new developments on St. Mary's the last few years, both in terms of being medium-density mixed use, and also interesting, quality designs. Shows that nice small buildings can be done here.

^^^ I am pretty sure the house at 96 St. Mary's is getting torn down and being replaced with a 6 unit condo complex. I am not sure why they have it all tarped off... perhaps something to do with asbestos in the stucco or something?
