In the eventuality that casino-style gambling ever came to pass around here, there are a couple of downtown alternatives to the Riverwalk that might be looked at. One is adjacent to the hotel cluster that has emerged in the St. Paul Square area where it could serve as an enormous economic generator for the east side. The other might be in the area west of Market Square. Either way it would be close enough to the center of downtown but not that close to the Riverwalk.
Finally, if opposition to the downtown locations could not be overcome, then I would look at somewhere along the axis between SeaWorld and the
I-10/1604 area.
