For its time, the RenCen was 'futuristic' (i.e. unconventional). Though, it seems when you're designing with the expressed intent of designing into the future, the project, more often than not, looks dated soon after its built, and the RenCen is no exception:

Gotta nominate San Francisco's new "green" Federal Building by Morphosis:

I also want to give honorable mentions to two other new SF buildings which sit facing each other in Golden Gate Park.

--The new DeYoung Museum (designed by Herzog and deMeuron and covered in copper sheets, it will gradually oxydize to green to blend with the park):

--The new California Academy of Sciences (under construction to a design by Renzo Piano that includes a "green" living roof)

Thats actually a very interesting analogy. Does seem to be the trend.

For me the most futuristic under construction is the CCTV tower in Beijing. To me that is damn impressive, damn original and bold. I can only wish to see it in person one day and savor the moment much like I guess one would savor in a piece of art at the Louvre.

The most futuristic proposal is Trump in Dubai. I want to see that built. Looks straight out of star wars. 80 South Street. London Bridge Tower

Most futuristic built, swiss re, hearst, bank of china (hong kong), turning torso
commercebank (frankfurt)
Most futuristic for its time: Chrystler, John Hancock (chicago), Transamerica, original wtc, Ryongyong Hotel, Seagrams (nyc), Citicorp (nyc)

^^Yes but the idea that clean and simple lines are the future has been the idea for years....nay decades! I mean, I'm sure that was the general consensus ten years ago, and then we went and made the Chrysler 300 and the Dodge Nitro, all these vehicles with massive grills. I think the idea that clean and simple as the future might have worked back in the 60s, but we should have realised by now that whatever we predict as the future (especially when it's something as basic as clean lines and simple designs) probably won't happen.

I would like to see Trump Dubai in different angles. All we have ever seen is that one render.

Please. Cars have always been designed in inverse with the architectural style of the day. Think the very first cars such as the model T were built when jazzy and ornate art-deco was in vogue. Then think the heyday of American car-design fins, swoops, and chrome, everything overdone that came about during the 50’s when modern understated architecture dominated. Think about the 1980’s when postmodernism was introduced, an overly ornate almost cartoonish architecture, while the cars of the time were simple and boxy. Today’s architecture is a reexamination of modern architecture, a form that I coined post-post-modernism and low and behold the cars are becoming more and more flashy and adventurous.

What could be more futuristic than the building that inspired the Jetsons architecture?

To this day, when I think futuristic, I still think Blade Runner:

Nobody has come up with a better visualisation of the future in my mind to this day. Blade Runner towers aren't goofy or ludicrous (like much of cartoon-pop architectural garbage that will begin looking dated in two minutes), but clean, grand, imposing, and basically EVIL.

So, for me, the towers of 40 years ago, the true beauties of modernism, still appear to me as the most 'futuristic' design we've had so far.

Anyone know where the glass building at the beginning of the new Bond movie was? That impressed me.

Lightbulb

In Rio de Janeiro: Maybe that space ship flying ET one is good architecture of too futuristic one of Oscar Niemeyer.

In Munich: The BMW Welt would be the most futuristic in city.
