Quebec's official language is French, but they still have English schools and English classes. Manitoba has no official language, but would be bound by its founding documents to be bilingual if it was. It's a totally different situation.

I know you're just being facetious, but for those curious. They have both English language and French language schools. The option to enroll in either is not open to everyone.

For children who's parents both grew up educated in French, they must be enrolled in French language school.

For those children who either parent grew up educated in English, or who moved to Quebec after having significant education already in English, or who's sibling have had a significant education in English then have a choice of enrolling in either French or English language schools.

The French language schools do have an English class.

I am looking to rent. And have my child in early French Immersion as a second language (English is our first). Any areas are fine, but we have been comfortable in EK previously.

A good website to check is http://www.rentitornot.com. It has a bunch of apartment reviews for East K...you can actually search by neighbourhood.

English is a mandatory subject in all Quebec schools every year starting in Grade 1.

There is also a tiny number of French immersion schools or classes here and there in the province. (In places like the Saguenay for example.)

But it's nowhere near as widespread as French immersion is in the rest of Canada.

Not sure what this has to do with choosing a place to live in Winnipeg.

OP's kids are in French Immersion, so naturally a discussion about French Immersion policy ensues
