I hate to see news like this. These amazing structures are still built by the hard work of humans on the job, and the danger is always there.
Kudos to all the iron workers who make great things happen, and ultimate respect to our fallen victims. We all appreciate your hard work! Rest in peace...

That's one thing we may overlook here. The hard labor-work that goes into making this magnificent structures. RIP those who just passed.

Someone may have more insight, but why wasn't a harness being used? Isn't that mandatory?

Anyone else check out the Wall Street Journal today? One real estate ad page had a big above-fold ad for the Peshtigo, and another smaller one below the fold for Waterview Tower.

I wonder why the decision was made to advertise in the WSJ when these projects are not expected to compete on the national scale [high end clientele] that is the target of the CS, Trump, Mandarin,...

^ What's not high-end about Waterview? Lack of brand name? I consider Shangri-la every bit as important as Mandarin Oriental.

yeah, they're definitely not doing what I was thinking they were going to do. But creating more usable space is good!

It should start going up within the next couple of weeks, didn't they say the beginning of December?

I don't know about that, they certainly aren't on the big one where the building skinnys down, I think they are simply working on a complex floor where they go from parking angled floors to flat, occupied floors. I don't think this constitutes a "transfer floor".

No, they're working on the first level of hotel floors. The transfer floor isn't until about floor 28. I'd say it's more transitional.

typically the advertisements in the WSJ or magazines such as Architectural Digest are not national. They have mid-west additions. If you were to buy the WSJ in NYC you would not see the ad for Waterview. Same goes for the magazines.
