Former Thai Memory resto. Closed down a few months back and the space went up for lease. I guess they're just renovating the storefront for the new tenant?

Based on this post, apparently, it'll be a sales centre

Can't believe how quickly and efficiently they've gone to work on this block - really cool to see everything come together

Do we have official floor plans for the annex yet?

That view across the street is stunning.

At least let some talented local artists do something with that. It's a large canvas for a great mural.

I believe thats exactly what it used to be shortly after the demolition until about 10 years ago. I vaguely remember some kind of mural being on there at one point.

It's the most mishmashed looking wall ever - I wish they'd just brick up the entire side so it at least looks uniform - it still looks like it was freshly demolished and it's been years since it was like that..

But yeah something needs to be done with that wall..

It’s been said many times that the wall is owned by the same owners as the parking lot (Desantis). Unfortunately core urban can’t touch that wall and I doubt Desantis feels any incentive to clean up that wall unless they build on that lot.

There should be a law that states that if you are a corporation you are not allowed to keep your property in an eyesore state.

Surface parking in the city centre should be taxed through the roof. Naturally, the City gives them a tax break so...

And yet the tax any business in the core through the roof instead - encouraging businesses to leave and encouraging parking lots to stay.

The white entrance isn't working for me. Would like to see this simplified so that it appears secondary to the lister block allowing it to be the focus. Feels way too busy.

Imo it really doesn't suit the "heritage" look of this area, where everything around it is fancy and then you have this ultra-modern addition..

It also makes the terracotta beside it look a bit yellowed..

It just lacks character overall.. very clinical looking compares to everything else on the street.

The scale is good. Seems to compliment the Lister relatively well. I like that they're not trying to match it perfectly because that wouldn't work and would end up looking clunky. It's a start...

It fits really well. The trend in the core has been/will continue to be mixing old revitalization work with modern builds. We have a lot of old buildings that are worthy of redevelopment and we also have a lot of empty parking lots or worn down 20-30 year old buildings that would be better off rebuilt with a modern architectural style.
