^See the sign on that building? IBM. Like an old-timey Apple Store ca 1930. Kids weren't lining up for the newest computer in those days, however.

Haha didn't even notice that - good eye!

Also computers back then were probably still the size of rooms hahaha

Huh, I always thought the building on Main & Walnut kind of looked like it was renovated.

One thing I will have to say about the old buildings - yellow brick is a VERY unforgiving colour when it comes to getting dirty.

Who's up for a Hamilton landmark taller than the CN Tower?? This will never happen, but what an absolutely fantastic idea. Scroll through all 10 images for the full plan…so good. Would be not only a landmark, but a social gathering spot linking upper and lower Hamilton with awesome amenities and green features in place of simply drab cement roads being the only thing allowed to traverse the escarpment.

Looks like it'd fit into Simcity 2000 just fine.

Lol HIGHLY unrealistic - but very cool to look at - still I'd rather see stuff like that down in the core - but I do like the concept of sky walkways like that.

The owner of Mezcal posted it on his Instagram. Supposed to be ready in July.

A-ha, I found the rendering. It looks lovely! It will certainly be a great improvement over how it is now. The name's a little blunt though

An interview with Jason Thorne in which he calls the height limit "innovative", praises the replacement of the OMB with the LPAT, exclaims that the DRP is "excellent" for improvement building design.

I find it particularly ironic that he wants to build an "interesting skyline" while mandating that all buildings in the core can't go above 30 storeys.

LOL...innovative...yea, so innovative that every other city that had a height restriction 45 years ago has since scrapped it. The Hamilton way.....

While not everyone here loves Jason Thorne, I think his recent tweet about development charge change proposals is great news, both for downtown and for building the city properly in terms of density. I am hopefully this gets implemented. I don't think it goes far enough but it's a step in the right direction. I implore as many people to push for these changes and for ways it could be better. Policy is the best way to encourage development in our downtown and areas where we have brownfields:
