Sorry guys, been busy lately. KFT hooked me up with some great pics of the new TOA base, so that is definitely on the to-do list. Remember, good things come to those who wait. Also, I believe we're expecting something from Ydoc14 as well...

By the way, did those come through ok? The last time I emailed some pictures, for some weird reason Hotmail chopped the tops off them.

^Only kidding

Re: the TOA, I whipped it up. There are a bunch of great technical details out there about the TOA, so this might be the most accurate model I've done yet. Textures are going to be tough because of the curved surfaces, but I'm getting there.

And a comparison to the current, Google-approved model:

a quickr pickr post

Boquillas, I'm sure you've caught this but the shaft looks too slim...or is it the right size and I'm just seeing it wrong for some reason.

^I used the figures Emporis has-- the shaft is 45 feet wide, the roof is 622', and the top house is 76' high. I agree though, I thought it looked too thin also. Depending on the angle you see the shaft, it looks thicker or thinner. I think it's an optical illusion.

Anyway, here it is with textures. Some of the new base structure textures are courtesy of KevinFromTexas, who took some great photos during our forum meet. I also realize the roof isn't red anymore, but I don't care. It will always seem red to me.

So the roof isn't brown anymore?

As for the Emporis stats, I added those. They came from a booklet I purchased in the tower's base several years ago. It had a lot of great details on the dimensions and other facts about the tower.

Fantastic! Nice work once again.

( One small question... is the trunk thick enough? )

I think you guys are right about the shaft being too narrow, so I widened it to 50 feet, even though it's listed as 45 ft. Also, by popular demand, I changed the top house colors a bit to reflect the new color scheme. I still haven't done anything about the obs. deck columns, because, from some angles, they're not all that visible, and it's really open space anyway.
