Harry- Thank you for always posting photos, but if I never see this steaming pile of hot garbage again on this forum (or real life), it will be too soon.

Does anyone have any West Loop construction photos so I can flush my eyes of this architectural obscenity?

Thank you SolarWind for the great photographs and extensive updates! The West Loop is changing so fast its hard to get a handle on how many new buildings have gone up already.

The West Loop is everything River North could have been.

And speaking of Chinatown, looks like the first restaurant in the new retail "mall" at 2300 S Archer got a permit to build out. This one is for "BBQ House" linked to Naperville.
Side question: are there any renderings public for this?

Architect is Vari. This is pretty good news for Chinatown. Hopefully the hotel will turn out well.

Could you or anybody else tell me more about this? In broad strokes, what has River North's development history looked like?

Interesting thought. How did River North compare to the West Loop/Fulton Market area in terms of warehouses and industrial buildings that could have been converted to modern day West Loop?

Eh, it was okay. The prior building was a better fit for the area IMO.

Centrum is proposing a 9 story office building (with retail) to replace the former Walmart Express building in River North.

Let the densification of Chicago Avenue continue!

Well you can't argue with that - that was a beautiful skyscraper. Although looking back at what buildings we have lost in general can be depressing.

I still think as it was - a pure mcm - it had a classic and well designed verticality with the lines meeting the street in an elegant way and the glass recessed away from the fins. It was 100 × better than the Frankenstein monster it has become.

Now that’s a great TOD spot ... surprised it’s office.
