That lot is so huge you could build an apartment block on it and still have room for the Starbucks.

it probably falls in the airport vicinity noise zone thingy! lol it is a very desirable spot, i'm surprised it's being so underutilized.

Yes and no, it is just on the outer edge of the AVDP zone II, sort of the outer area. It's not in zone I which is where Polo Park is situated (right under a flight path). I'm not sure what restrictions apply to zone I.

Maybe CF's challenge could open the door to redevelopment of that site. I guess the AVDP rules are probably a big part of the reason why Portage Avenue from Wall Street to Sturgeon Road looks like it's stuck in the late 60s...

I will also say that there are now so many Winners Marshalls & Homesense they especially the latter are no longer special or unique. When there was just the 1 Homesense it was more special but I wish them luck. Oversaturation can deplete the base you have.
Pretty sure I saw somewhere that they are going into the former Sears space along with Good Life.

Really? The date they give for opening is at the end of April and I just don't see them finishing the renos by then. Things are still in a heavy state of demo and reno at the moment. I wish them luck though. Anyone know if they submitted renderings?

I see one of the biggest Winnipeg retailers of them all is in big big trouble:

https://globalnews.ca/news/6594654/f...nygard-nyc-hq/

There is a PDF of the class action against him embedded in the article... let's put it this way, I don't think anyone is shocked that there would be allegations of this sort made against him, but the details and sheer numbers involved are way worse than I would have imagined.

I wonder what it means for the future of the company?

Well on the bright side, knowing us Winnipeggers, there's going to be a lot of clothing discounts, so we can all get a chance to actually walk around in something other than Wal-Mart, cookie-cutter apparel & Adidas sweatsuits...

Sarcasm.

Calgary is jeans, plaid and cowboy hats. But mostly posers and only during stampede. Otherwise is the same shit as any other Canadian.

On HMCS Calgary the ship's crew is issued those big white cubby hats as part of their uniform.

Apparently Hunter Harrison when he was running CP Rail did not like his office staff dressing like that during Stampede week. He thought it took their focus off them running a railway.

Everybody dresses like that. I was in Calgary a couple years back for work. Our office is downtown and everyone was in plaid, boots and some had the hats. They were asking me where my gear was! I said I'm not a cowboy haha Good spirit I'll give them that. I suppose it's similar to people wearing hockey jerseys to games or black clothes to death metal concerts, or whatever.

The restaurants are the long mentioned Qdoba and Popeyes. Theatre was brought up here a while ago as well. There was no details on it other than it will be under construction in 2020 with a 2021 opening.
