I want them to keep (brace) the facade and incorporate it into the next Hill Tower.

I expect that is the plan for the Credit Foncier façade.

Again, Louis Riel has nothing to do with it.

Still, I’m glad they didn’t give in. They knew what would happen if they didn’t fix it. They were hoping it would deteriorate enough that the city would let them tear it down. Having said that, I’m sure they’ll continue to sit on it.

Well yes, there no redeeming value to the building except that it's old.

They will just sit on it until it starts falling down upon itself. There are some park dwellers that use the space between it and that law firm building as a bathroom on the alley side.

I was at the North YMCA last night and was reminiscing about high school...back when the Y was the Coop Hardware store in the Sherwood Village Mall. We used to skip 1st period and go the the restaurant in the Hardware store and get a full breakfast for $1.99.

We tried to remember the old layout of the mall and all the stores held within, but had many blanks. Does anyone know where to find old maps/layouts of the Sherwood Village Mall and the Normanview Mall?

OMG I hope someone can find those. I also grew up in the area and fondly remember many trips to those malls. I vaguely remember a different food court layout for the Sherwood Mall before they turned it into a separate entrance with an M&M Meats, which is still in the same spot. Does anyone remember which restaurants were in there? I remember DQ and Trifons in the new food court. Who could forget the Dominos Pizza and arcade as well.

If I remember correctly, the DQ was ice cream only. I think there was a Mr. Souvlaki in there too

Here's a list of the stores I remember

Sherwood Village:
Coop (Hardware and Grocery) opposite ends
Shoppers
Sherwood Credit Union
TD Bank
Saan Store
The Met (I remember the name, but can't picture it)
Pet Store (maybe Pat's Pets?)
Travel Agent
Unique Florists
Work World
M&M Meats (late addition...took over the food court)
A Music Store (I remember buying a Bobby Brown Cassette)
A dingy Arcade (not the Dominos one)
a Trinket store (used to buy tiny plastic dinosaurs)
Bensons (bar)
Japan Camera
Coles Books
Hallmark Cards
Hair Salon (Not sure the name)
Jewellery Store

A little before Shoppers pushed into the interior and the mall hallway disappeared, "Treasures" was also in there.

I found the ad for the Grand Opening of the Sherwood Village Mall August 13, 1980. Listed stores included

TD Bank
Pacific Ocean Deli
Scala Music
Dairy Queen
Orange Julius
The Card Shop
Unique Florists
Shoppers Drug Mart
Mr Souvlaki and Barbeque Chicken
The Co-Operators Insurance
Coles Book Store
Sherwood Credit Union
Kit's Cameras
Riley McCormick

and many more opening soon!

My memory tells me there was a Heindrick's Jewelers and Peter Pan Toys there at some point too.

There were such high hopes for the NW back then. Crazy how development stalled for almost 20 years.

Might have had jewellery, but they also had knick knacks and some home décor, I think. The only thing I ever bought there was a Snowglobe.

The store lived on for a bit in the Golden Mile I think.

Dug a little further back to find a listing of stores for the Normanview Shopping Center. The ad says it's their 2nd anniversary. No mention of Zellers, and I don't recall when it was added to the mall. Scroll to page 8 for the ad.
