I kind of get the feeling that the overall layout and flow of foot traffic will be changed coming up - I think the skywalk will be connected to the top of the escalators and traffic will split left and right.

I'm more certain those metal beams must be the tether for the crane. They've been moved to the current floor and if you notice their length, it seems to nearly correspond to the length necessary to anchor the crane in that corner.

Does anyone know if they will pour the core in winter? I know it would be technically possible, but they might not want to pay the heating bill. Judging by the steel progress, maybe they would be able to pour in the next couple of weeks. Does anyone have any scheduling insights?

Winter isn’t going to delay construction.

I genuinely don't know if you dopes are just teasing me.

In any case, had the existing escalator pit not already been there and oriented that way for the last 40+ years (), I too agree a differenty layout would have obvioulsy been preferred.

I'm sure they will pour that core. There have been enough delays, some that sound externally influenced. Nobody likes that stuff.

My ma works at 360 Main. Must've been on lunch break.

She can confirm it is a bizarre layout!

it seems like an easy fix: throw a bench and some planters underneath.

still a pinch point but at least you won't have people walking into it

You may be right. Strange that they would just keep moving them from floor to floor though. I know it is a tight site but you would think they could find room for 2 beams. Also, they still haven't installed the tether collar on the crane mast (image 2) so there is no indication as to where it will be mounted.

Well, I never said it wasn't bizarre. I said it was the only choice.

Quite frankly, let the problem solve itself. If someone is the type to run into the side of an escalator, let them Some aspect of their life must have needed that wake up call.

If I am not mistaken, they store steel on those beams. Must be an efficiency thing. They can move up a bundle when a truck arrives and then pick one at a time at that height.

Unfortunately the court's aren't friendly to those who let Darwinism run its course. Tort lawyers would have a field day with something that obvious

The hollow cores are getting installed very quickly. We should be seeing a new set of steel columns going up soon.
