Do we know if there will be any steel on this project - or is it 100% concrete construction?

Now that they are above the grocery store floors, it definitely appears to be moving a lot quicker.

^ The perfect spot for a new center city septa stop. We’ll call it “PlayStation.”

These things are going to look monstrous to drivers on the Schuylkill expressway.

The PMC Property website has renderings -- in case people forgot how these will look.

Not bad. Are they still going to build the tower right on JFK Blvd., with access from under the SEPTA tracks? Hope so (eventually)...

^Nothing yet is definitively planned for that sort of odd shaped parcel between the train tracks and JFK. Hopefully it gets developed in the near future.

Well, lets hope so! Without just stopping they couldn't go much slower. From your lips to PMC's construction mangers ears, fingers crossed.

As I've mentioned -- since the permit issue was resolved, and the public announcement of Giant being the grocery store at the first tower, things have really picked up in all fairness. Tower One alone is a gigantic site, with a parking garage, a 2-story grocery store (65,000 sq ft) and I am sure with unique design demands. The core is around floor 11 now.

Patience!

Second tower starting back up soon, per PMC:

Quote:
2301 JFK Blvd./ 60 North 23rd St (PMC Riverwalk Development)
PMC reported to the committee it will move forward with the proposed second tower of the project that is now underway, the site where the new Giant food store will go. The commitment to this tower was earlier in a wait-and-see mode, but the tower was very much a part of the larger project that
LSNA considered and approved. In addition, PMC indicated plans to activate the area underneath the SEPTA bridge that goes behind the PECO building. Amenities being considered there include a dogcare facility and perhaps a
recreation element. Details to follow, but PMC plans to address that large site in a way that supports the adjoining project. They asked for input from the most immediate neighbors, and a committee to do so is being formed.

Fantastic news - especially the component about activating the dark, death area beneath the septa bridge. Hopefully it's a public space and not just for tenants.

As an aside, i've always wondered why the DRPA doesn't find uses for the massive, multi-acre space underneath the landing of the Ben Franklin Bridge in Old City? There's acres of covered land just sitting there, useless, behind a cyclone fence.

In London, they'd have wedged a flea market, one-story retailers, a dog-run, a farmers market and a beer garden in there.

Before 9/11 much of that area was used for paid parking, then since everyone knew that the bridge was a top target for international terrorists who only blow up bridges from under them and never from the bridge deck itself, the DRPA closed the lots down.

I think I heard within the last 6 months to a year that they were going to open the lots for parking and were looking to consider proposals from parking operators. Maybe there wasn't any interest----------. Recently some of this space was used as day time parking for NJ Transit buses. I doubt that the DRPA does anything very quickly, unless its fear driven.

This one is so sick. I can see the potential for towers lined up and down the river! Let's go.
