I saw it being assembled on one of the Transguide cams. It looks taller then the staybridge hotel, in st.paul square. Very exciting. I guess its good that i dont live there, cause i would prob crash, from not paying attention to the road. I can see it now, trying to focus on 4 cranes all at once, it would be to much...
Well shucks, why coudn't they have raised the cranes for Vistana and Vidorra last month? I would have gotten some pics.
Good to see it going up finally. That'll make a nice impact on the skyline there for sure and the views from the Tower of the Americas will only get more interesting with it being there.
shorter. It was going to be 292ft when it was going to be 25 stories with the fin design Now its only 20 (or 22 i forgot) stories with no fin. So its gonna be around 200ft. Which sucks.
It's got to be at least 250'. It was almost 300' with only 3 more stories (and I don't think that included the fins, or did it?) If it included the fins, it might be less.
I think it'll be around 220 to 240 feet also. The original height was 292 feet with 23 floors. They've eliminated the fin, that's about 30 feet, and then knocked off 3 floors. That's around 35 to 40 feet. So it could end up being 70 feet shorter than the original announced height of 292 feet, which would make it around 222 feet tall. That's still not all that bad, it'll be about the same height as the Hilton Palacio del Rio, which is 217 feet tall.
I had tried to email the architect regarding the height, but they never came back with a reply. I'll have to try again.
thats what the people from vidorra told me... and i wouldn't be surprised if they were right, but i also wouldn't be even more surprised if the developer was just being a cheap ass and cut out design aspects that make the project more expensive! either way... we have a crane up and that bitch is underway... FINALLY!!!!!!!!!
who else (besides me) didn't know if they were ever gonna start on this project? the thing that is most important is the fact that if VIDORRA fell through, it would have made san antonio look weak in terms of being able to support condos, and now we have cranes dotting the skyline (for hotels, too), in almost every sector of DT!
^ Agreed. This building's success along with The Vistana and the Grand Hyatt's residential portion should really be the deciding factor in whether or not more towers are on the way. La Cascada went up fairly quick, (two towers), so there is at least some demand for it. Also San Antonio isn't a stranger to highrise living anyway. It's just a question of whether or not they want to live downtown.
