Major milestone today with the lifting back of the bridge structure back onto the piers.

When they finish the work and put it back into service the city needs to start on the retaining wall replacement like they did south of the bridge. The same work is really needed north towards Oxford St. It is crumbling and broken with small trees growing out of it.

The massive crane was disassembled today. Largest of its kind in Ontario.

Might want to invest in some 4K night vision security cameras. City might want to put them on their website for the public to view as well.

Civic Works Committee voted 4-1 to leave the bridge open to cars all year round, against staff's recommendation.

In favour: Councillors Van Meerbergen, Cuddy, Rahman, and McAlister

Opposed: Councillor Trosow

Just voted down in full council, too. Open to cars year-round. Great way to treat a historical artifact and our premier mixed-use pathway (TVP)

Awesome news! Last thing downtown London needed was yet about route closed with some idiotic seasonal road closure. Bad enough the entry points to Dundas at Rideout & Wellington are closed to traffic.

Always though when they were rehabbing Blackfriars they should have linked it directly to Central Ave with a new bridge.
