Thanks. That glare off of 360 is kind of cool. In the late afternoon the whole building lights up on the southern side. I've seen it from my neighborhood before and it looks like this orange blade in above the horizon.

I love looking at downtown Austin. I always have, but for some reason the Ashton is an ugly building. Maybe in a few decades, it will be recladded.

Their marketing site just launched!!! Get to it from the old site with former name: www.altavidaaustin.com or the new one www.AshtonInAustin.com

The site has their available floor plans in pdfs linked below. I've gone ahead and cut and pasted all of the floor plans into easy to see pictures on The Ashton thread at, www.austinurbanforum.com

1 Bedroom Floor Plans (pdf)
2 Bedroom Floor Plans (pdf)

so they're sticking with that brownish red brick color? i thought they were going to paint the building yellowish like the upper part of the building. i think this building is ugly with that color. it's not a very attractive building, imho.

It seems as the construction on the Ashton is taking a real long time for the "crown" part.

I do like the building style!
Isn't this the first building in Austin to be in the height of 401-500 feet?

Wink

Just what I needed Kevin, a photo/set of photos showing what the Ashton is up to now. Are they going to leave the aluminum accents on the facade?

The only view where this building is very prominent is from the south. Every other angle is pretty much blocked. The western view isn't for now, but with the W Hotel & Residences rising, it will be from certain views. It's almost unnoticeable from the east from I-35, even though it's a 412 foot building. And from the northeast it doesn't even show up, or is overshadowed by Frost and The Austonian. If it had been farther west it would have been much more prominent.

Well, it's free opinion! You don't and I do, I don't care either way. It does look dull to me.

I agree. Ashton only catches my attention from the south. Might be visible for a few seconds from Mopac, even though the W hotel will block it, but it will then blimp off. Well, it does balance the skyline with Congress Ave. in the middle, along with the Austonian and will-be W Austin Hotel and Residences. To my opinion, I think they're putting to much on the west of Congress, and if the Stratus Complex pops up, it will definitely unbalance the skyline. T. Stacy, Four Seasons, and 21C won't be enough to balance it. It will come close though.

It's great to see that Austin's skyline is growing taller and dense enough that a building over 400 feet is vanishing into the cluster!
