What's that tower in the third row of renderings - first picture? Looks like a downsized Austin/Lady Bird Lake project...

Any ideas as to what that means for this project?

That's exactly what I thought. But I couldn't find any info referencing that rendering.

I don't see it as being good. But maybe a redesign is in progress?

It should be illegal to cancel projects like this one. One you announce them you have to build them or you go to jail.

I have to admit this one was kind of an ugo, so meh.

It was too boxy and bland. It would be one thing if our skyline were bigger and more accommodating of more average stuff, but coming here and laying an 800 foot box is...savage.

You speak harshly, but you speak truly. This project was an egg. Fight me. Yes it was a ritz carlton. But the architecture is yoikss. Boxes stacked on top of each other. Revolutionary!!! Not.

Hopefully, this is an opportunity for something better.

The more I think about it, that unexplained rendering on M2's website could be an update of this project - if the Travis tower is no longer part of the project. The name of the image file is "ritz-c-1", and it it's not the Nashville RC. That could very well be lady Bird Lake in the front of it. The levels are difficult to count because of the design, but it could be around 45-stories.

If anyone can make out the name or logo at the bottom right corner of the tower rendering, it might be a clue.

It looks like it could be an Imageshack watermark, but I can't imagine a developer being ok with someone else's watermark on their renderings. I haven't used Imageshack in years, but I do seem to remember they would put watermarks on images that were hosted for free similar to how that appears.

That image is also being used as the banner on their updated (but still crappy) website. So whatever project it is for, it must have some significance.

That definitely could be Lady Bird Lake. See the creek leading towards the tower, in roughly the same position as Waller Creek. And the stand-up paddleboarders. The buildings in the background don't match what would be there, but they seem like filler anyway.

It would be nice if Austin built a cylinder building of some sort.

I like the design of this new rendering, especially the base. It feels kind of retro. It would be a shame to lose the height though. An 800 footer would make for a better progression up to the supertall next door.

That's a weird rendering. It's like from an alternate dimension Austin where town lake is twice as deep, and the Travis doesn't exist. I'm not completely convinced that's what we're looking at.

That building design is actually pretty interesting, so I doubt it's an Austin project. It's got a cool retro-futuristic vibe going on.

Yeah I like it too. Besides, it has got to be much better than whatever currently occupies that lot, right?
