That's exactly what I thought, and I was thrilled but then disappointed when I realized it was a chandelier. That would have been a wild addition to the skyline.

What is the current status of this project. No posts in a while. Has the actual construction started? Last time I looked about 6 weeks ago there was not too much going on there.

There's a recent post(s) somewhere in an Austin thread. The site is busy, but it's still digging/prep/utility stuff.

U/c??

From the look and sound of it foundation/retention drilling has begun. Site has been very active 6 days a week for the past few months. Wouldn't be surprised if this turns into a large hole in the ground fairy quickly. Time to switch U/C?

Cement needs to be poured for a foundation or support column before it can be considered U/C by SSP.

Yep. This one will move quickly, though, because of how small its footprint is.

434ft. with 43 floors. So in all the floor to ceiling ratio in each unit will be a tad bit higher than The Spring.

From Thursday. This next wave of high rises just getting underway or in the very near future is going to be the best yet:

This and the tower going up by the MACC are my favorites that are either under construction or about to start. 5th & West is going to make a pretty impressive impact in this area with the only two other towers taller nearby being 360 and soon to be Independent. This is the tower that will break up the plateau affect a bit that the Bowie has exasperated and it's three cornered design will be unique in terms of our taller highrises.

5th Street went from a sparse unimpressive corridor to one of the longest more dense corridors we have. If the Mexicarte museum is ever built and if the Megellan project sees the light of day 5th is going to have a pretty nice canyon affect the whole way down to 35.

It will be nice when one of the busiest throughfares through DT doesn't dead end at the I-35 wall. Of all the streets that should have never been blocked (and none of them should have in the first place), it's 5th street.

I think this next wave, as The Genral stated, will add the biggest changes to the skyline so far - either because of their height or their location or both. The Independent, 5th & West, 70 Rainey, Aloft Downtown, the Fairmont, 5th & Brazos, and even Aspen Heights mostly because there won't be many tall buildings around it. Not to mention the insane infill that will happen with Austin Proper, 208 Nueces and 500 West 2nd at GreenWater. Plus we'll probably see the announcement for what they're planning for the final block at GreenWater by time those are nearly finished.

Yes, next wave projects like 5th + West are realllly gonna knock out that veneer skyline effect we've had going since 2008. More building meat in the core I still would like to see this one get an antenna or something.

Their Facebook page has a rendering of how this fits into the skyline - minus The Independent, Austin Proper, 3rd + Shoal, Greenwater Residential #2, The Google Tower...

I wonder if that is an accurate preview of Northshore's lighting.
