^ Very nice. I think 360 is going to end up being a beautiful tower actually. The rendering was sort of vague on the glass color. I am loving that reflective glass. Sort of reminds me of the Chase Bank Tower. It should be nice. One thing, though, on cloudy, rainy and overcast days you can bet that tower is going to disappear from the skyline. That reflective glass will make it almost invisible on the skyline those days. I've noticed this with the Frost Bank Tower on real overcast days. The building just about becomes invisible on the horizon from here in South Austin. 360 should be even more extreme with that glass. I think it has the potential to be beautiful, though. I imagine from certain angles at night the moonlight will reflect off of it and be truly awesome.

I was emailed this and thought you all would enjoy.

The 360 sales office did a photo tour of the building. Some shots were taken from the 23rd floor. Check out the killer views here:

It looks like they're finishing the 29th floor.

Keep an eye on the web cam tomorrow. They're probably going to be raising the crane.

Retail

Little bit of news on the retail at the 360.

"1 tapas/wine bar signed up but the others are pending. It will be very similar to the 2nd. Street District."

Not surpising since I think that whole area will just blurr together as the other projects get going what with the Seaholm area right next door and Second Street a block over. They have started raising the crane for 360 right now Im about to drive down there to watch how they do it.

They're starting to raise the crane today guys. Yesterday they had a piece in place on the tray, but today they've actually raised it up three sections starting at 7:14 am. I think the rain yesterday threw a wrench into the process. Downtown and South Austin had some heavy rain for about an hour.

Web cam.

Notice that the crane raises a few times just a tiny bit. That's actually the jack lifting up. They a new section is moved into place, secured, and then the jack moves up another level and they bring in a new section. Pretty cool stuff.

Does anyone have the ability to make animated images? I had a free trial program, but it's expired now. It would be sweet to loop all the images and see the crane raise up and down.

Anyway, this should put the crane up to around 450 feet high, easily making it the 2nd highest point on the skyline currently.

360 has now topped off the 38th floor and is starting on the 39th floor. We're now officially tied with San Antonio for highest floor count. The Marriott Rivercenter in San Antonio also has 38 floors. Once 360 hits the 40th floor, probably in 2 weeks, Austin will tie Fort Worth to become the 4th Texas city with a building with 40 floors or more. Once it's topped out with 44 floors, only Houston and Dallas will have buildings with more floors. In the picture below, the roof should be slightly above the crane once it's finished. Then all is left is the spire and Austin will have itself a new tallest.

Pic from today, 9/23.

Yes, but only for about 2 years. The Austonian, which broke ground recently, will be completed in 2010. The Austonian will be 220 feet taller than this building.

Actually, that was taken from my office near Lamar and 49th St. We've got a great view of campus and downtown beyond. Thanks for the comments.
