As a very frequent user of that section of the south side of the river pathway I can't wait until that construction fencing along this section is finally gone. Even with the new buildings it will open up the space in that area and give it some much needed breathing room.

You can also see in that night rendering how the development will be built up from the existing level, no doubt as part of flood mitigation plans for the new phases. From what I remember the existing buildings fared very well during the flood of 2013 too.

Looks nice, nothing outstanding but certainly a nice jolt the area needs. I hope the end result is more urban and open, some angles make the whole project have that 1990s fenced-condo vibe that is too common in the area from that time period. A few retail bays and pass-through connections would certainly mitigate that.

Too bad about 3EC not working out, would have added another 500 units plus to the area. Haven't heard much lately about the 7 tower and Eau-Claire market redevelopment. Starting to wonder about the timelines with these.

Love this, looks fantastic for the area and will fit quite well with the crystalline Eau Claire mega project.

I hope it will look more inspired in reality. These renderings are super-boring in my opinion. That said, I'm happy to see the Eau Claire area being developed since it's been such a ghost town for so long.

They've definitely reached enough sales to start construction on the first three, I don't think they have though.

Almost sold out. Spoke to the salesperson a month ago, she said construction was to start within the next month or two. Was just wondering if equipment was on site, apparently not!

That is so awesome to hear that ANOTHER multi tower major project is starting soon. It's pretty great how the "bad times" here would be gangbusters for most other cities our size or much larger.

They're lucky they launched right before the oil collapse though. New tower starts will slow for awhile unfortunately.

Well getting this, Telus Sky, Union Square, Verve, and Cidex West Village going will seriously soften the blow of the slowdown in skyscraper construction.

Possibly Concord, Park Point, The Royal, Orchard, N3, Bosa/RioCan towers, Cidex rental in EV too. Ok might not be that bad

haha exactly. I don't think we'll see the Rio Can towers go this cycle, but likely the retail portion with the tower pads built on top. We probably won't see anything else that just started sales since the collapse start for another year or two.

Concord is a likely candidate though, and N3 could be the exception for condo starts, considering its price point. East Village Tower (cidex rental) is probable too.

Went by on wedn which was the vip launch for the final two small buildings near the front. Place was packed, wouldn't be surprised if all 6 buildings are now nearly all sold out. They going to finally start, or more permit delays lol.

Waterfront condo project moves forward with next phase of development
Western Canadian developer Anthem Properties brought some good news to Calgary’s labour market Thursday.
MARIO TONEGUZZI, CALGARY HERALD

Quote:
The developer of the Waterfront condo project in the Eau Claire neighbourhood said it’s moving ahead with the next phase of development that will create more than 250 direct construction jobs.

Four buildings totalling 624 units — all sold — were completed in the project’s first phase. The next stage, called Parkside, will eventually consist of six buildings comprising 361 units, of which 85 per cent are sold.

Eric Carlson, chief executive of Anthem Properties Group, said each housing start has the potential to create five direct and indirect jobs.

“That means construction of Waterfront’s upcoming 361 homes could create as many as 1,800 local jobs. Over the lifetime of construction, we will have created as many as 5,000 jobs,” he said.

“We launched construction of Waterfront in 2007 and have persevered through changing markets”

The entire project is expected to be completed by spring 2018.

Kind of shady to keep pushing a competing site here don't you think?

It's nice to see this one get started, same with N3 and Verve. There hasn't been much tower starts in 2015 but overall not bad considering the recession and I like the design of every one of them.

-Telus Sky
-Concord
-The Royal
-N3
-Verve
-Park Point
-Parkside

Site prep at Marriott Residence plus rental tower.
