I'm from Hamilton, but I've been living in Thunder Bay/Ottawa for the past while. I knew TBay to Winnipeg was about 9 hours, which was a pleasant nights sleep on a greyhound, then Regina proved a similar trip, then Calgary the same, and before I knew it I was doing a ten day tour of Western Canada by Greyhound in the spring of 2015. (My bus ticket was very interesting with all the 12-15 hour 'layovers' in each city. )
Saskatoon honestly felt weirdly like Thunder Bay (and a little like Hamilton) to me. At one point I could basically swear I was in TBay while walking down 20 St W, it was so much like Algoma St. It's a very cute little city, and one I would not feel overly opposed to spending more time in (if only it were a bit closer, or I a bit richer and able to afford all that travelling...).

I'm sorry i won't get to see your pics Beedok, But sounds like you had a wonderful journey touring The Prairies!. I've never been to TBay or Ottawa but fascinated to make same comparisons someday with your neck of the woods. I've heard of Saskatoon similarities with Ottawa because for the river and vibe of some neighbourhoods etc, definitely some differences too. TBay similarities are a first i've heard of before but I could see maybe a one off street like 20th St West being similar to some streets in some other cities.
20th St in Saskatoon use to be the epicentre of the 'Hood in alphabet city' with lettered avenues and numbered streets in the city. Its grit, prostitution, higher crime rate, 20th Street has since gentrified to include some cafes, sporting goods stores, comic/games/arcade stores etc & Roxy Theatre is one of my favourite historic venues in the city. 19th Street just a block away has had major transformation over the past months & years with Farmers Market, Drift cafe/lounge, and The Banks

I hope you got to see more of Saskatoon than 20th Street, such as Broadway Ave, River landscape with Bessborough Hotel & bridges and the 110 year old University of Saskatchewan with Collegiate Gothic Architecture, rated one of the top campuses for landscape beauty in Canada.
Thanks for posting your images Echoes! Beautiful, you definitely know how to put feel for Saskatoon in pictures.
