Also that brownish goldish building directly to the left of the new proposed building at the top where the church is by mcnab.. what is that? That is definitely not the church.. it looks like another building entirely..

Are they planning on knocking down the church? That building looks like it's even older than the church in its design - like early late 1800s early 1900s architecture - and then what looks like 3 identical townhouse type buildings in front of it..

I think it's just a goof of the rendering. If you look, the medical building across from city hall (which itself is looking a bit thick) is actually the old county courthouse.

Probably not even a goof, but just the renderer not being too worried about the parts that aren't the focal point.

The Regency and 150 Main W. are only partly built yet the George St. tower is up, no Pigott and Sun Life buildings which should be just to the right of Ellen Fairclough, Hamilton Place/FOCH looks like a factory, Commerce Place looks weird too...

So according to the renderings the lot at the corner next to the great big wall of concrete won't be filled in ...will there still be a small parking lot there? And does he plan on doing something to that exposed wall ?

That is Vrancor's King and Caroline project site of which I haven't heard anything on recently. For now it's hotel guest parking. I don't know if he plans on doing anything with the big blank wall, but I feel like they would've put precast on it by now if they were going to cover it up. It's a great candidate for a big huge art piece though.

I thought this was to include parking in the shorter section?

Yes but I had thought that parking garage would be reserved for building residents and guests only.

Also even if the garage will be open to the public, in the meantime until that garage gets built, say 2 years, a lot of monthly permit holders will be searching for a lot.

Hopefully there is a public parking component in that garage and it is not only for residents of the building. It does look like it could be opened very soon.

The fact that Vranich needs to use the lot on the corner of King and Caroline as a temporary lot leads me to believe he may be crunched for parking.

I would assume so. I don't think they would close the lot for the entire winter just to start in September.

I haven't checked if this requires a rezoning but likely not because it's within the DTSP. However, it certainly needs a Site Plan Approval which has not been filed, according to the City's development mapping service.

Once this is closed as a municipal lot I wouldn't be surprised if it continues operating as a private public-pay lot for the time being.

Also, if my memory serves me correct about 5 podium floors of 22 George are municipal public parking, and only the two basement floors are for residents. So once that opens there shouldn't be a parking supply problem.

So they ripped up some of the asphalt to I suppose to ground testing, but then repaved it the other day, so maybe a little bit until this starts.

mmm it reminds me of vegas.. all that gold.. loving the intensity of it. It's like a building that understands it's bordering on gaudy so why not go all the way with it

I question their design choice of adding windows and what looks like transparent mesh on the west side of the building though.. surely they realize a building - hopefully the green one proposed, will butt up to it..
