Interesting piece in today's S-P providing opinions about the best location for a new arena.

Thanks....I knew Prairie Sun was a potential lease, just wondering when the build will actually start, but I guess if their plan was to move in this winter, the developers better get cracking on construction!

Consensus seems to be on parking lot between Holiday Inn and Hilton Garden. I would have liked to have seen a location bridging Broadway, Downtown and Riversdale, but that kind of land does not exist...so, my vote would be for the lot across from TCUP, as well. Man....I hope this process starts sooner then later as I am sure it would be a 5 to 10 year thing from start to finish.

Wasn't those shakes put on when this became the Casbah night club, if i remember right it was the same owner who also had Yips and Jacks on 2nd avenue.

Man what a great shot that is of River Landing from the East Side of the river. The trees and greenery are also really starting to fill out and mature around that area. It's going to look amazing when it's all completed.

Traffic Bridge

Checking the construction camera on the south end of the Traffic Bridge every morning. Things seem to move very slowly. Not much visible change.

Browsing an agenda for an upcoming city committee, and there is a report regarding tax incentives for Midtown's redevelopment of the Sears space. The report describes the planned changes:

It also includes some floor plans and renderings (not great quality):

I'm seeing what looks to be the food court moved to the 2nd floor as rumoured. Also some pretty significant changes to the exterior and lots of glazing added.

That would be a massive improvement to the mall, if they proceed with plans similar to what has been shared as renderings in the document! Good find Echoes....

The dark building in the third image reminds me of a recent MEC store constructed in Kitchener. Might be, might not be, just a guess if they have designed for clients already.

Looks like that structure is on the back of the mall where the food court entrance is now. Has a decent footprint as well.

Mark Rosentraub, who is speaking at TCU today, was on the CTV morning news talking about a downtown arena--making lots of sense :

Hopefully this goes to the right video... https://saskatoon.ctvnews.ca/video?c...ylistPageNum=1

There was an article about him as well:

If anyone remembers, North Prairie applied for a tax abatement for a 5 story condo next to Shangri La in City Park early this year. On their website they've got a post about Opus Lofts coming soon! That's exciting that it looks like it's going to be a higher end development as that street needs it... before I bought a condo on 5th Ave North downtown I was looking at one on 4th in City Park and it is kinda scary on that street...

Only really needed the first two sentences in that "construction" rant, but ok.
