My apartment has thermostats in each of the main rooms or you can just turn the heat off entirely — no different than the air conditioning. I don’t think they’d rent very well if you couldn’t control your own heat.

I was supposed to go this morning but unfortunately a meeting came up and I missed it. I am excited to see it next week.

Really nice looking interior to the Hargrave Market. I hope it gets a lot of foot traffic. If this is a bit hit, could spark a new trend of "cool" food court areas in Winnipeg

Sorry Mr. Mottola, but I'm broke mid-month.

I was planning on going on the 14th but I'm down to my last $2. It's either coffee or laundry for me until the 20th.

But if this can be compared to an even more upscale Forks Market (the Common to the Millennials) then I won't be purchasing much from your Market as I cannot afford this price level of munchies.

The food hall will be open at 7 a.m. in the morning for coffee and breakfast and will remain open until later in the evening for drinks and dinner.
That's OK. We all know how downtown Winnipeg went after Portage Place. The Bay started to decrease its hours. We need more residents downtown to help your Food Hall stay "awake" (open in the night).

We finish swimming lessons at the Y for my daughter at 6:45 PM on Mondays, and there's very little open that's quick and casual for on the way home (through the walkways in the winter). Hopefully this fits the bill.

Will the Market have the same free-flow liquor policy as the Forks Common does?

The Market is fully licensed.

I was on the social medias at lunch. And boy howdy. Re: Hargrave Market:

"Sure looks nice. But I wont be going as it's downtown."
"The crime rate is too high in that area, so I stay home."
"Screw Chipman and his billionaires."
"Parking."

^ luckily the clientele for this new food "area" is more or less built-in with downtown office workers and residents.

I doubt they are relying on the people making this a destination from a suburban office park..?

Yeah, the usual Debbie downer crew isn't an issue. The Market will be popping, there really isn't anything else like it downtown. It's a "food court" in the broadest sense but the existing alternatives at Portage Place, City Place and Winnipeg Square aren't in the same league as this place appears to be.

That said, we may have reached peak downtown restaurant, at least for the current population.

Ya I know. The logic is silly though. "I won't go downtown because I perceive it to be to dangerous." If you and everybody who thought that just went downtown, there would be loads of people making it safer.

They are hoping to see this installed by the new year.

It's nice to see such a fresh and modern-looking indoor public space downtown... I can't wait to check it out in person.

I agree it looks great. Does anyone know if those businesses will offer catering services for business lunches/meetings? I would think that would be a money-maker for them when people aren't having lunch on-site.
