And that's probably why I hear local names like Wascana and Saskatchewan pronounced like that by non-locals!

At least almost all established Canadians know how to pronounce "Regina" (and don't giggle!)!

And how is it that most people can get "Saskatoon" correctly the first time, but not "Saskatchewan" -- maybe it's the one extra syllable, or the 3 consonants in a row, or even the 3 extra letters that confuses them?

Edit: Ah! ... I think it's figuring which syllable to put the accent on!

It all just depends on how you think of a word and it's replacement of a letter or two..
I sometimes smirk a little when I say "Paris" & I think of the replacement of ar with en ¯\(ツ)/¯
